I'm using Foxfarm Oceans Forest and the last go round it burnt my seedlings (bagseed) to a crisp. I've read now at a couple of places that you should flush the soil before transplanting seedlings. Anyone else do this? I'm a day or two away from transplanting and I wanted to read up on it before I made any decisions. Also, anyone play music for your plants? If so, what kind of music?

A more likely culprit than your soil is your lighting. Try placing your fresh tranplants on the perimeter of your lighting area or raise your light an extra foot or so. Fresh transplants will normally exhibit some wilting for a few days. Transplantation is a shocking experience for them. Once they snap out of it, then go ahead and bring your light back down to normal height.
the first couple years i grew i used ffof soil and had defficiency and burn problems every step of the way and i couldn't figure out the problem, a couple years ago i swithched to roots organics and i haven't had near the problems. on your next grow give it a try and just see if it helps. i'm sure there will be a hundred people on here have a fit cause i'm talking bad about their precious ffof and i'm sure alot of people DO have good results with it, but in my experience the roots works much better. i know this isn't really an answer to your ? but it took me alot of time to give up on that soil and i was happy i did. just trying to save you a bunch of time fighting that soil like i did. maybe try em side by side.
I thought that maybe it had been the lights too but if anything they were too far away to cause any kind problems. I may have to chalk it up to unknown genetics and hope for a better go at it this time around.

First if you're growing in soil, you should forget the word flush. Flushing has been debunked. I'll send you material to back it up if you like. Mike357 made an excellent point. Just cut the mix with something else like promix or light warrior or even make your own peat/lite mix. Then plant your seedlings into that.
I just may end up switching soil. For the cost of the beans it just may be worth the peace of mind that they're not going to burn up like the last batch. It's amazing how far some people are willing to go to defend their use of a certain product.
I didn't know that, thanks for the info. I'll go dig around some and see what kind of info I come up with on the subject.
