Questions about fabric pots

Do the roots grow into the fabric? If so, when you go to reuse the fabric pot, are roots from the previous grow embedded in the fabric?

What happens to the fabric when you water the plants? Does it get damp? Does water leak out the side of the pot? How do you catch the water that does come out the bottom of the fabric? (Regular pots usually have trays to collect the run off. It seems that those trays won't work if the fabric is sitting in it's own run off.)

Do fabric pots have any pros or cons when it comes to bugs invading the fabric or the soil? How many grows are the fabric pots good for before needing to be replaced?

I sit my Smartpot on a support that keeps it a few inches off the ground. Nothing solid, something that has openings, like a grill. I've never really noticed much water leaking from the sides but I reach under the pot and feel it to see if the water has saturated through the pot. If you want to check your run off you could put a pan under it. You don't want to place the pots directly onto soil unless you want the roots to grow through the fabric and into the ground. That's been my limited experience with them. I do really like them, I'll probably go with all smartpots next season.
