Question regarding a few buildasoil products

So I have a decent amount of products from them, I grow notill in a 4x4 bed. I’ve been doing some reading, but would appreciate some opinions from those experienced using them. I think it would be easiest for me to just name them off, and see what you have to say. Like how often/when and maby why

1.Quillaja Extract Powder

2. Formula EM-5

3.Whole Malted Barkey. I used to make SST with them, but now i’ve just been grinding them and immediately topdressing them

4. Big 6

5. Comfrey (I grow it myself…) curious how much you’d use as a topdress, and if it would be better to make a ferment.

6. Agsil 16h I know it’s just powdered silica, but curious how often and how you use it. I mainly used it mixed with ahimsa neem oil for IPM, and even here and there with like aloe and sometimes BioAg Fulpower

The "Q" powder is just a surfactant like yucca extract, great for wetting new soil or stuff that's gotten overly dry, I try not to overuse it, once a month or so seems to keep my pots draining and wetting really evenly.

Em5 I've never used but I've been told you can use both to clean and for IPM even fairly late into flower (I've got no personal experience though)

Malted barley/gnarly barley/malted grains - the barley has a lot of good enzymes that get released as they break down I just top dress once every week or other week depending on how much I'm feeding the plant. Maybe like 3-4 tablespoons in 10 gallon pots, more in bigger pots.

Big 6 is the same as like tm-7, it's all your micronutrients that aren't usually readily available in organic soil, and it's all bound to sulfates so you get a nice sulphur boost for your plant as a bonus. I just follow the instructions on the tm-7 bag so I'd assume you'd be safe to do the same with big 6.

I would ferment the comfrey or add it to your worm bin/compost pile personally but I don't grow comfrey or nettle or any of that. I have used comfrey ferment from buildasoil before because there was a bottle marked down at the store near me because of shipping damage and it seemed like the plants likes it. I grow leaf lettuce, grasses, and vegetables for my guinea pigs and feed their poop to my worms instead of using plants directly now.

Agsil is just potassium silicate, same as any other silica product you would use, just make sure you properly dilute it. I personally don't like using it as a soil drench but as a foliar it's definitely the most cost efficient product I've used.

Nice informative post.

Big-6 is TM-7 without the iron. BAS had them make it. I use it occasionally. I've just been using 1/4 tsp per gal when I do.

I thought it still had iron from the soy aminos or whatever was in it, they just chose to get iron in a different form than the tm-7, I could be mistaken but I thought that's how Jeremy explained it. Either way I think tm-7 works very well for me so I'm sure the big 6 will work just as well, and iron is the easiest of that group of minerals to get from other places regardless. I probably would have bought big 6 over tm-7 but the only store with BAS stuff near me was out when was stocking up.

Oh alright I guess I was just remembering wrong. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

As a little side note I started using the build-a-bloom this last harvest and it seems to really help with some of the issues I had with slight calcium defiencies I was seeing. I changed a couple of things last harvest so I can't say it's all this product but I got about 10% better yield my last run and I feel like it helped.

That write up was absolutely amazing, thank you. Do you grow notill? I know you don’t need to use a whole bunch of stuff to grow good product, but what’s your grow all about? Topdresses, foliar sprays, IPM, whatever.

I did my first notill run in a 4x4 and it went well. Cover crop, topdressed malted barley and Buildasoils craft blend… Foliar sprayed aloe quite often, added some BioAg Fulpower to the foliar twice. IPM was ahimsa neem oil/Dr Bronners/Agsil and spitosan a couple times. Watered in coconut powder/aloe a decent amount. Grow turned out great.

I wanted to try some kelp foliars and maby other stuff even. I’d like to do even more stuff, maby ferment my comfrey. Just trying to do
