Question on Sugars...

I use FF's big three for my nutes and have also been using Bush Doctor Bembe. I've never used Bembe before but hear good things..

I've got about 3 to 4 weeks left in flower and I've been reading about unsulfured blackstrap molasses so I picked some up and plan on using it for the duration of my grow.

Being that Bembe is essentially the same thing, should I just continue using that by itself, fully switch over to the molasses or just use both??

Hoping some here have experience with both and can maybe shed some knowledge this way.

Gracias!

I use Bulk Barn unsulfured black-strap molasses @ 2 tbsp/Imperial Gallon (4.54L). For this grow, I'm experimenting by using the black-strap only and I've stopped using the FF Tiger Bloom with a little over 4 weeks left in flower. We are days away from harvest and my buds look chunky and frosty all over.

Here is an underneath "larf bud" that didn't get a lot of light so I clipped it to test potency. Looks pretty gooey.

This little nugget was divided between six guys toking through a pipe - and we all had a pretty good ride.

Black-strap contains the same micro nutrients as the bottled flower nutes - copper, zinc, manganese, iron - as well good levels of more base nutrients like potassium and phosphorus. Black-strap is high in calcium & magnesium which are important for plant health.

If you have already bought the Bush Doctor Bembe (great name for a skiffle band) you might as well use it up for the duration of this grow. Take note of plant health while flowering and measure the finished harvest weight. Then on your next endeavour, just try molasses during flower, note how those plants grow and compare final weight. Then you know if black-strap works for you.

If it does work, it's nice to know that the molasses will be less expensive than the Bush Doctor.

Hey Thanks man.

Excuse my ignorance, but why stopping tiger bloom?

Nice nug you got there.. How long do you intend to let that little guy dry out before you test it?

I also feed cal mag so not sure it that will really be needed anymore once I begin using the molasses....

The Bembe was given to me to sample for free - definitely going to use it up but I have a strange desire to begin using the molasses as well lol.

Thanks again!

I stopped to experiment to see how well molasses can do on it's own. TB is a more expensive chemical/salt based fertilizer while molasses is a cheaper organic by-product of sugar refining. I can get a lot of black-strap for $10. If using molasses on it's own doesn't work, I'll continue with the TB. So far so good though ...

You are correct, molasses already has a good amount of Cal/Mag and I am certain that your girls will tell you if they need a tad more.

That little nugget dried for 4 days and she has already been tested. When dried, it weighed 3/4 of a gram and gave six adult males several good lung fulls (each) toked through an onyx pipe. All six reported that it passed the test.
