question on changing lights

Right now I have a 8X8 tent in the basement with about 600W total of compact fluorescence, in a top drip system, on two plants. Did good on first harvest. Now im thinking about upgrading the lights to 600w mh/hps setup. My question is since im using the same wattage basically will my electric bill raise any?

Keep in mind a 600w hps use a little more power. Asuming the op as 600 watts of cfl at the wall plug a 600 watt hps will draw more since the ballast will also use some power. Plus like i said before an exhaust fan may be needed to remove the heat from the hps bulb to control temps and that will increase the power bill some. It all depends on if the op already has good fans and ventilation in the grow space.

Agreed to a point. I'd be willing to bet that 600 watts of cfl will be almost as hot as hps.

But yea, op will need to cool it and a little extra for the ballast.
