Question on CFL wattage and Lumens, can somebody tell me if this is right????? thanks

Since lumens are the measurements of the TOTAL amount of VISIBLE LIGHT……..then when you are in veggie stage…….are you wanting to keep your kelins at 6500 and try to find the most amount (?) of lumens from a bulb….?…..Example : if a person has three plants in veg. , 3×3 space, would a cfl that rates at 200watts / 6500K / but only has 2800L… will this be not enough to grow with ???Sorry, but one more question……(thanks)…….say if you are using same area space above mentioned, if you were to use (two) of the same bulbs mentioned above, would the total of lumens be brought up to 5600 but the kelvin amount would stay the same at 6500…….?…..is this right ???? If this is correct, is this why people go with higher wattage bulbs to get more lumens ? ………thank you so much and you guys have a kick a_ _ site here….love it ..been a lot of help, you have no idea…..you guys break it down simple and easy for people like me. Thats right, I’m calling myself simple, that’s why I need to grow weed (lol)

P.S. ...one more thing.... no disrespect to CFL growers, again I am only learning still, but looking at the pics posted here on CFL...I am a little worried because I only see young veggies is it because these bulbs don't produce well sized buds? If some one has pics of some healthy buds - please share them this way, but either way let me know what your running for light.... thank you

Hey cfl is mostly for ppl who need micro grow, clones, vege., no heat problems like HID light give put, and saves money on electricity. U don't get close to the yield with cfl. Yes to all ur q's. More light on bud site the denser. I only grew with HID lights but started cfl cause I need to save on electricity, limited space n stealth. I have my one play under 104 watts 6500K vegetation stage and for flowering ill add 4 more bulbs make it 208watts 2700K

Thanks... What are you using on the inner walls...(?) flat white or mylar .. Are you using some sort of bulb reflector....

Lumens ........equal distance(how deep the light will get in the plant) and denceness

the least amount u want on the plant is 5000 lumens (this is the least amount and still look health)

as for maximum i use a cool tube and was getting about 70000 on the top cola (no light stress markers but nurt burn showed)

as for clones and seedling the lower lvl is good for them does not stree and burn them (u would not put it in direct sunlight u want shade same goes with CFL )

direct sun can be 100 to 140 k lumens
shade can be 40 to 15 k lumens

here is some pics with info

id suggest 3000 rated lumens of CFL or more per plant... 2x 26watt CFL for each plant should do the job. keep the lights 2-6 inches away from the plant depending on how much airflow you have and how hot it is. Flat white for reflection. Reflectors definitely.

Ok to make this easy go with 3000 lumens per sq foot. That's the way I learned with cfl oh so many years ago and did not have a problem. You wil get decent dank but you will use more electricity as far as efficiency. Once you find this out you will switch to another light source unless your doing a stealth or micro grow and heat is a concern. You wanna make it easier, get the 65 watt cfl, 10000 lumen, 5000k flood light from home depot and take it out of its case and put it in a reflector. when you switch for flower come down to 2700k 42 watters as they give you the best bang for your buck in the correct spectrum you can add what you need but two is sufficient with good reflection need penetration. Scrog the single plant and use four 42 watters in flower. More than enough light decent spectrum, don't have to worry about penetration because your making a canopy. Hard to believe the last time I ran a cfl grow was 12 years ago lol. Also READ, READ, READ can't put anything past doing some research. Read everything you can get your hands on. Get different perspectives on grows. Good Luck!!!!!

you can use a 10 watt bulb to grow a 3 foot tall plant. but it will take a very long time. im using http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-HTG-Supply-4-Foot-2-Lamp-High-Output-T5-Fixture its only 110 watts. and it will get 8 plants 2.5 foot height easy . with out murdering the electric. when I comes to flowering stage you need to pack as much power as possible . If I was going to flower with cfl you would need a http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-SlimStar-4-Foot-8-Lamp-High-Output-T5-Fluorescent to flower those 8 plants. 450 watts. this would be a great set up for a cfl grow. no point in buying any thing better, unless its time to step up to hps or mh.
