Question about plant container. (seedlings)

Is it generally a bad idea to place seedlings into large pots before establishing a root system with let's say a plastic party cup first?

I can't really seem to find a definitive answer on this.

I'd like to be able to avoid the shock from transplanting multiple times but if it turns out it's a must-do step I have to take then that's no problem. Just curious about this and I figured it was time to try and get an answer or two.

transplant shock is not a problem with weed waterlogged roots are. Use the small pots.

Again transplant from small containers to big ones unless you are really good at watering small plants with small root systems in really big pots. There is no definitive answer only a level of skill required! Peace
