Question about lights

I built a grow room its 4' high x 3' wide x 2' deep
i plan on putting somthing in it to attach my lights to and be able to lower up and down as they grow so i can keep the lights close about how many CFLs and what watts would be the best set up for this box?

how many plants? 6? i would use 6 to 9 42 watt cfls. or a 10 to 16 23 watt cfls. growing in a box with cfls goes great with thick mylar on the walls which reflect 98% of the light. but with that many lights heating may be a problem but will be fixed with proper ventilation

for the same cost as the 3 105 watt cfl you can buy a 400wat hps lighting system and it will produce about the same amount of heat as the cfls use only 85 more watts in power witch dont add up to alot of money on the bill and it will produce way denser buds.
go with the 400 watt hps 250watt at minimum you will be glad you did

get 3 100w cfls for veg and 400w hps for flowering. dont expect big buds from a cfl only grow.

Well whats the cheapest 400watt i can get? i dont got that much money which is why i was gona use cfls i havnt seen any cheap 400watts anywere the 105watt cfls are only 30 dollers a light on here 2 to 200 Watt Compact Fluorescent Bulbs : 1000Bulbs.com

the bulbs for hps are cheap(30 to 80 bucks) the expensive part is the ballast for the bulb. usually runs about 150+. just think of all the money youll save in the long run though. invest in HPS its worth it

at HIDHUT you can get 400hps digital ballast and reflector for $139. That's the best I could find and it's pretty good quality. I've been running their digital ballast over my aquarium for over a year now 7 days a week and never had a problem.

that would work just fine. but i have found that using more smaller cfls is cheaper to buy and allows you to distribute the light more effectively. and as for the white walls they only reflect 70% of the light and investing in some mylar will make for a little bit fatter buds. and standard color spectrum should be 6500k for veg and 2700k for flowering.

its got the ballist the refletor and 400watt hps bulb for 100 dollers i think its referbished, but i got 3 48inch long 40watt tube fluros can i use those for veg for right now and use my money to buy that 400watt set up for flower and buy some better cfls next time around?

Their stuff is new, the ballast is digital and the reflector looks better quality.

Inside sun is refurbed, not new, how long is it going to hold up ? The ballast is not digital so it will be buzzing sooner or later.

It's your choice but I'd rather buy it and not worry about it, like I said my setup has been trouble free. The digital ballast is definitely the way to go.

you can get digital ballast for 120-180 from anybody...inside sun yeah sells refurbished stuff but warrantied been around long enuff for my warranty.you can get your own reflector get a cooltube for 69 dollars when buyin the light from them.my set up has been trouble free no worries with a refurbed ballast and no buzzing so your point exactly?????

alrite thanks, i think im gona go with the inside sun its referbished but its got a 3 year warrenty on evrything except the bulb plus i just barely have enough money for that one right now i dont have anouther 30 or 40.. what would be the best and chepest way to do the sides of my box to reflcet the light?

paint it flat white or get white reflective material

yes you have the exhaust fan pushing the air thru a carbon filter

just some quick advice before you go spend a grip on a fuckall expensive carbon filter. for the size of your growbox, if i was you i would make a homemade carbon filter with mesh cups and activated carbon you can get cheap as shit from wal mart.

Thank wolfman zen for hookin this shit up. It works - all you need to buy other than this is an exhaust fan--you can even use a computer fan if you wanned to. Just hook it up like this, and it will work for you, just as well as anything your gonna waste a grip of cash for thats for fuckin sure - plus, you could always just add another one if you think its not doin the job right. Id rather spend 10 bucks than 100 any day of the week. thats just me though...

My point ???? Your answer is a little hard to read but I'll give it a try.

My point is I'd rather have a digital ballast that is new and works from the start, since it burns less electric, runs cooler and the bulbs burn brighter.

That is alot better than some inefficient refurbished high bay light that has already had problems to begin with. How cool is a 3 year warranty when it's the weekend and your lights just quit working, let alone the shipping on a high bay light can't be cheap to return it.

All high bay lights buzz sooner or later, usually sooner, and if he's growing that is all the guy needs is people asking where that buzzing is coming from.

The other thing you missed is the HIDHUT kit does come with everything you need, the reflector and all.

I guess my point is, I think the HIDHUT kit is a better deal even if it costs a little more, you'll get the diffference back in the electricity you save in the first year.
