Question about light/tent exhaust (1st grow)

2x4x7 tent,400 watt air-cooled light w/glass (only one side is ducted and other left open to draw fresh air in)., 6" centrifugal fan w/ 500 cfm's w/speed controller at lowest setting ( I know..overkill for this size),two small fans inside, no carbon filter yet, passive intake. Have no plants in there yet(just testing). Here's the crazy thing:

I manually turned light on to to test run. Fan was off. Light ran for about 5.5 hours, temp. was 84 going in and 79-80 going out. Never had to turn on the fan once. Even put some water in the bottom to create some moisture. Temp stayed the same. I had no fan running to exhaust air except for the 4" open at the top. Turned on fan manually when temp got 82. Took less than a minute to drop temp down to 78.

Should I be ducting the other side of the light and put a thermostat on the fan? Don't want fan kicking on though every other minute. Not good for fan!! And put another 4" exhaust fan at top to draw in air from bottom flaps. Any help is greatly appreciated......
