Quantum ballast 1k , can it run a 600w bulb with the dimmer?

I want to switch all my Lumateks to Quantums, but I'm wondering if a 1000 watt Quantum can operate a 600 watt bulb if dimmed to 75% or 50% ? The Lumateks are dimmable by wattage, the Quantums by percentage hence the question.

its never been confirmed. most bulbs can handle excess wattage so imagine it would not be the worst thing in the world, but why not get 1000w bulbs and dim those?
