PVC Tube/Box

I'm wondering if anyone can verify if PVC works as effective reflective?

This is as crude as it gets but I'm thinking you can take a 4x8 foot sheet of pvc and roll it like a tube then tape the outside and there you have a nice reflective grow box.

I would have the top open with the halide hanging inside with a 300 watt cfl and my exhaust toward the top.

These are the same thoughts that I had. PVC should work with some white paint. I did this exact idea using aluminum flashing that was prepainted white from home depot.

I'm hopefully a few days from harvest, and I can tell you the idea worked great. Check out my grow log if interested.

I've been reading your journal for a while and I'm shocked at the watts used to get where you are at. Would of it been faster if you threw in more lights? It seems from the pictures that you have cfl daylight bulbs and not the soft white (more yellowish bulbs)? Regardless it's a amazing finished product imo.

Tube/box - What is the radius of yours? I'm hoping for 2ft radius with a 4x8 sheet of white pvc... My math sucks so please correct me.

Thanks for the good feedback on the grow. I'm a little stunned myself. I thought I was going to do ok, but I'm real happy with what I got.

It was tough on the watts. I went a little low to help keep the temp low. Thought about the 42w instead of the 23w. The current bulbs are the soft white, 2700k. I did veg with 5500k bulbs.

My tube has a 15 inch diameter, 38 inches tall. Sounds like you're shooting for a 4 foot tall tube? A 8 foot sheet would give about a 2 1/2 foot diameter. I would suggest white spray paint for the reflectivity. It's about $1 a can, and it should boost the reflection in the tube.
