I have 2 closets that I can use 5x3 and 2x8, I also have a small closet that I use as a cloning chamber. I have 2 1000w mh/hps cool tube complete light sets as well as several "tote" hydroponic setups. I also have two rubbermaid closets, 72hx25wx19d that I could put to use how many plants could I fit in there with the light penetration of a 1000 watt light?

the only space you can effectively use a 1000 watt light is one or both of your closets. any area less than 15 square feet (approx 10,000 lumens per square foot) is going to have too high light intensity resulting in significant bleaching of your plants.

for flowering, you can fit anything from 5 big plants to 15 or 20 small plants in the 3x5 space, totally up to you based on what strain you pick, how much you veg and how much you train your plants. you are going to have significant heat issues so plan accordingly.

i would trade down to a smaller light for veg and use the 2/8 space for veg and mother plants. or use the rubbermaid closets, either would work.

i have 2 500 cfm fans to port air out. I have one for each light. And you are also saying that I have to go into the two larger closets, the 3x5 has a 10' ceiling and the 2x8 has an 8' ceiling. I plan on growing white widow and cropping for 4 colas and supercropping the branchs during veg. Also with that 1000 watt light is it safe to go carbon filter, tube, cool tube, tube exaust? or will that still be too much heat? also would that be enough exaust for the room with a passive intake? So your saying you would use BOTH 1000w lights in the 3x5?

would 4 24" t12's and 2 46w cfl's cause too much heat in those rubbermaids? Would a computer fan be enough to cool those?

only one light per closet, your 1000 watt hps lights give out about 145,000 lumens each and you do not want to exceed 10,000 lumens per square foot for flowering, and you only need 2,000 lumens per square foot for vegging. so you don't really have a need for the second 1000 watt light unless you want two flowering areas and you use the 2x8 space as your second flowering area. if you do that, then yes, you could use your rubbermaid containers and fluorescents for vegging/mother plants. you probably will need something stronger than a computer fan to cool the rubbermaids, given the cubic footage, but try it first, you may be ok.

and yes, you can make a ventilation line: carbon filter at ceiling->fan->cooltub->exhaust. that may or may not be enough exhaust for the room, depending on what ambient temps you're dealing with. only way to know for sure is to try it and add more ventilation or a/c as required to keep your temps in the 70's f.

if you have access to an area of relatively cool air i would add a fan to your inlet. if not, then passive hole and/or just letting air seep in due to negative pressure is ok.

i'm trying to tell you the answer depends totally on what you want to accomplish and what you have to work with. you can grow a small strain that never gets wider than one square foot or you could grow a larger type of plant and train it with lst, fimming or topping and end up with a plant that takes up 9 square feet, i've done both.
