purple branches?

so i have a plant about 2 and a half feet tall and some of the branches are purple but not all...does this mean some kind of defecency or just a good plant? i got it from a buddy and we dont know what kind/strain it is.

normally means a general NPK def give it a LITTLE nutes it wont need a lot it isnt dieing but it could do with some food
