Pure afghan week 4 flower help !!!!

What's up y'all. Thx in advance for any help or ideas. I love this forum and stay on this shit constantly. Really good knowledge for novice growers. So first off I have a few questions and concerns to run by you .




Im currently in week 4 since I switched the lights to 12/12 and i feel like my growth is slowed. I got these two as well rooted clones from a friend. He's grown this strain for a while and the smoke is by far one of my favorites .


Its pure afghani. They were almost a foot tall when I got them so I vegged under some 6500k cfls for 2 and a half more weeks then switched the lights over a month ago yesterday. My cab is really stealth and pretty small 4ft by 2ft by 3 1/2 ft tall. I'm running a 400 watt hps since 12/12 and they are both dwc plants just two five gallon buckets and two air stones and a medium sized air pump.


I'm using tap water with a ppm of about 115 and I use botanicare cns17 bloom regular version. Not the shit for coco, at half strength , its done me well in the past , and cal mag at half strength, only using the cal mag on advice from the guy I got these from as he uses it the whole way thru and he always has fantastic results but normally I wouldn't use during blower bc I'm not using R/O water .


A couple weeks ago I used a small dose of h2o2 29% peroxide I got from my hydro guy bc the roots looked like they were browning a bit. No smell or sliminess just wanted to try and prevent anything from getting out of hand. I added all the nutes at half strength and added a little hydroplex and a 1/4 dose of flouralicous plus and the ppms were at 1500 , kept it like that for the next couple days and then diluted and changed the water a few days ago.


My ppms as of last nite were 780 and the temp with the lights on is around 75 and 60 to 65 when they are off. Humidity fluctuates between 45 to 55 . I change the nutes every 7 days and I flushed for two days between veg and flower. .
They smell like I could eat them ...amazing ,but a few of my bottom leaves are yellowing and dying and some of the upper leaves look like they have some sort of deficiency a little yellowing and some rust spots on the middle bigger fan leaves, but no spider mites , I check every night, and they just look farther behind than they should from all the pics I've seen of this strain. Theres alot of bud sites/ pre-flowers but the pistils don't seem to get any longer and the sites haven't really seemed to get any bigger. Just lookin to see what y'all think man. man bro im bot sure sometimes the lower leafs will turn yellow and fall off, r u checking ur ph, even though u change ur rez every 7 days u should still ph, im running an ebb and flow for 6years now and i ph everyday and adjust, most of the time its to bring the ph down to 5.8 also r u topping off ur rez with water i do that everyday to especially when flowering i have a 32 gallon rez and i put in 2 gallons everyday, as for the budz they will start to really swell up the last few weeks, the plants stops strecting around 3-4 weeks in to flower, and should start to bulk up, also go in ur room when lights r off and make sure u have no light leaks, hope this helps

Thx for the reply man. As far as ph goes the meter I used last grow mysteriously quit working. I use the drops for now and the color looks like urine so its supposed to be 5.8 to 6 but I can't really tell for sure, but hopefully close. I just bought a really nice ph/temp meter a few days ago online and it should be here first of the week. I don't have any light leaks either. I check on em every night and add ph corrected water and or nutes depending on what my ppms are. The last couple days they have actually went up about 80 ppms per res each night and each plant has drank about a gallon of water so they are obviously drinking more water than nutes I guess. It's really just lower fan leaves that turn yellow and only a few but they do it pretty fast. Here's a pic from tonite. They're still pretty small but they are getting more frosty on the leaves. It's just hard to imagine getting a decent yield when the flowers I do have look so small and possibly under developed to me. I could be wrong tho. Hope I am. Thx again bud

Btw got a little personal heater to go in my room tonite. It's called a lasko "my heat" it's only 200w and it's a ceramic heater but it puts out some decent heat and it doesn't glow orange at all like most of them do. Its only like 8" tall and looks like a damn computer speaker but my cab is only like 4ft wide by 2ft deep and 3 and a half ft tall so Hopefully this will help keep my cab temps up. Res temps are still at about 70 but when the lights go off its been gettin cold as shit so I've probably stunted the little fuckers ....sighhhh

Not the res temps they stay at about 70 cuz I got the tank heaters but the cab gets cold once the lights go off , sorry I'm twisted right now. Havin to close one eye to see the letters on this tiny iPhone haha

Got another question, went to the hydro store This morning and I got GH micro and bloom and some hygrozyme and dude gave me some humbolt co. Own Ginormous , snowstorm ultra , and crystal burst. I still have some hydroplex calmag and h202 left and floralicious plus left I have no idea now if I should use all this shit/ some of this shit or what.i know u can't use the h202 with the hygrozyme. I plan on using the Lucas formula for the micro/bloom and using the hygrozyme at full strength and the snowstorm and crystal burst at half strength with 3 drops of floralicious plus per gallon , my only fear is mixing all that shit together and getting a ppm reading of 2000 or somethin crazy and my ph gettin out of whack. We shall see in a few hours when the lights turn on and I change the res again. Anyone have any suggestions I would love to hear em. Thx and stay smokin sorry this shits so long.

Ok update, just changed the buckets after a solid days flush and added my nutes. I have 3gal of water in each bucket. I went a little light on everything and still ended up with 1300ppm !! I took some nute water out and added fresh water and let it sit for a bit and rechecked and they're at 1150 , so really a little bit over 1k if u factor in my tap water.

(These #s are total for all 3 gal) I used Gh micro(20ml) and bloom (40ml)Lucas formula ..snowstorm ultra(6ml) , crystal burst (6ml), floralicious plus(6drops) , and hygrozyme (20ml) . Couldn't get anyone to respond earlier so I just went with my gut and I spent all day reading on here to see what other people did. Hopefully it'll look good tomorrow. Lookin foreword to seeing some comments good or bad. Let me know guys . Thx again. Here's some pics from a little bit ago.

So here's a pic from about an hr ago , ill have to say I was super fuckin skeptical of the snowstorm ultra and the crystal burst actually doing shit but wow. I swear they have double the frost and that's just from 24hrs. They also look healthier to me so maybe this shit will turn out after all.




I used the GH micro/bloom ..snowstorm ultra /crystal burst / Ginormous all from humbolt co. own and Hygrozyme and floralicious plus. Everything was the first time I've ever used it except the floralicious and I didn't even have to adjust the ph it was spot on and still is 24hrs later. I'm pretty impressed so far. Time will tell tho. Comments and advice are greatly appreciated. Good or bad.thx and Stay smokin

Anybody out there ???

In my world, red stems on ya fan leaves are a sign of stress, the darker the red the heavier the stress. Looking at the top of your plants, minimal stress although a bit heavy on the leafage. Mid plant is stress signs big time. So it looks to me like your damage was done a while ago and she is coming out of it now. When I get unexplained issues I strip the grow right back and KISS. Fuck all the pocket draining additives, just ya ph'd flowering nutes at mid range ppm and a root stimulant like Rhizotonic or similar ( maybe some cannazyme or similar). Run em at a basic level until you see some improvement then move forward.

Your leaves look very dark green and brittle, do the snap easily when ya fold em?? I am gonna put my money on ph issues and over fed. good luck.

Thx for the reply man. The leaves are very thick and I guess kinda rubbery textured.they bend really well. The only issue with the leaves is that some of the bottom ones still turn bright yellow. I got my ph/temp meter in the mail a few days ago and I'm happy to say I'm gonna heave the drops out of my grow room. What looked like 5.6 on the color chart was actually 6.1 so I was pretty far off. Still not a terrible ph range for hydro but still far off from the color on the package. Anyway, I'm so glad to have a digital meter again. I have both reservoirs at 5.8 now and the temp is at 69. I have a small heater in there now and it is cold as shit where I am. 40 during the day and 18 at night. My cab temps are about 70 to 72 lights on and 60 to 64 lights off but I'm hoping they will be ok bc from what I've read afghan is pretty resilient and can handle some cold and the roots don't drop below 67. I think I may have gotten the stems a little more purple bc of this fluctuation from when I didn't have a heater in there and the temps got into the 40s a couple times The stems were actually pretty reddish purple when I got em from my buddy as clones tho. So who knows but you are more than likely right. I have my ppms at about 900 now and things are lookin up. I know I've stunted my growth probably but plants are lookin better. How long on average for an indica would u guess that it would take for some pretty thick white pistils to actually start lookin like buds. They are fillin up the space between the nodes good now but they just don't look like buds very much. I'm on day 40 and originally hoped they would be done about day 50 but that's not gonna happen so I guess ill give em another month of so and see what happens. Thx man. PEace
