i dont have a camera with macro mode so i cant get a picture of it, but i planted a germ'd seed a couple days ago, and just looked at it today and it looks like the root came up to the surface and it almost looks like it has mold or some kinda hairs growing on it. i know the hairs are normal to be on a stem, but these are REALLY long (id say 1/16" or longer). it almost looks like a pipecleaner lol. whats wrong, if anything?

are u sure its the right kind of seed, maybe ur growing a pumpkin. but in all seriousness its probobly not mold, unless ur keeping it very very wet in there its probobly just the genetics of ur plant

The long piece is the tap root and the little white hair looking things are stabablizer shoots.

Don't move it around too much or you will stunt the plant, have patience and it will come up and be stable.

definitely not a pumpkin cuz i smoked the weed this seed came of. at first i thought it was mold but i dont think so now. its fairly wet bc i got saran wrap on the top of the pot but none of my other 2 seedlings are just fine. its kinda hard to describe but it looks like a little fuzzball growing out of the dirt lol

also is this indicative of strong genetics or mutant perhaps?

soaked in a cup for 24 hrs and went to papertowel for a couple days and was planted half an inch deep
you should germinate the seeds correctly and planting them 1/2" deep is to deep.
were the tap roots visible after germination and did you plant them root tip(taproot)downwards into the soil????.

thats strange from what you are saying it seems like the taproot has come above the soil and i have never came across this problem before.
a picture would help a lot.
is whats above the soil white or green?????
just tried taking a picture but it just looks like a piece of perlite in the pic. whatever the hairs are growing from, its definitely white. looked like the taproot but just with a bunch of hair on it lol

i dont see your pic.
if its no good try putting it under a different light to get a half descent pic.
if you cant do this then just let it be for a couple of days and see what transpires it wont do any harm(is it your first grow??).
i would love to see the pic though:lol:.

its a bad pic but it looks like a tiny sprout coming up as i said time will tell.
what kind of medium(soil mix) is it planted in???.
is the medium nice and moist???.
if it has just sprouted then you could be seing cotlyedons witch can appear white for the first day or two dependent on your lighting and conditions.
i take it your soil and water p.h and watering is up to spec??.

i know what cotyledons are and these are definitely not it. the medium is just some cheap soil i had laying around. its not very good IMO but its all i can get my hands on so far..

i would say you have a soil/medium problem the p.h of this unknown soil could be completely unsuitable.you need proper soil just any old unknown garden/compost soil wont do.
have you tested the p.h of this soil/medium??????.
any half descent top soil or potting soil will do the business(they have neutral p.h. levels 7.0).
when you use compost or unbagged/unknown soils you greately increase the chance of getting plant defficiencys(health problems)and a much greater chance also of having plant pests.
the more i look at your soil it looks contaminated(black).
this is an old pic of one of my retarded sprouts but note the soil colour and perlite mix.

ive grown in it before, but didnt get past 3 weeks old or so since my cat chewed it up lol. this is bagged soil, but not very high quality like FF. also, i couldnt tell you the ph since i dont have a meter, but i do let my plant water sit out to evaporate the chlorine.

ive read in other threads about the root coming up like that the other people carefully dug up the seedling and replanted the root back into the soil with success
