Price for Hydroponics

so was assuming that i want 2 grow 6 plants in 5 gallon pots (5 gallon is wat mmost ppl use rite?? or is it 2 gallon???) and i wud get a combonation of vermiculite, perlite, and peat moss as my medium. Then i added up the price for 30 gallons of growing medium plus the price of the pots and it came 2 like 60 bucks. Then i went 2 ebay and say some drip hydro systems 4 65 bucks including shipping. Is it just me or shud the soil not cost that much???? also this will b my first grow so do u think a hydro sytem is worth the money over simple hand watering??

Dude that is one confusing question. First off if you want to cut costs just buy top soil & perilite and then mix it together and it should be a lot cheaper. Also, the drip system setup is cheap but there is a lot of work involved such as changing out the res and nutrients, etc.
