i've been vegging under 24hr since march 19th is there anything i should do now to prepare them for going outside, like changing the light cycle. i know i have to gradually introduce them to the sun but, don't know what to do about getting them used to less light with out getting them to confused and either turning them hermie or making them flower before there ready too when they get outside and suddenly have a significantly shorter light cycle than there used too, thanks guys let me know hat you think.

They wont flower unless its 12 /12, no need to worry about the change.
They will have less hours of light, but 10 times stronger light an it wll do better outdoors id bet.

P.s watch out for Rodents They ate my first 2 baby girls i put out this year. Im going with cages!

Good luck grower!

dude scarhole im so friggin glad you said that!!!! i've been arguing with this noob about the suns power vs. 18/6 artificial cycle. im still a rookie but i feel a lot better now.

told me his indoor plant is doing better than his outdoor plant because his indoor lights are on longer than the sun is out. keep in mind his arguement is based on 2 plants hes growing for the first time.

thanks for keeping me sane dude haha

thanks guys i appreciate the input, guess i've been stressing for nothing what do you think about switching to 18/6 dark in the afternoon cuz its been getting hotter than i would like for them. just to let you know what i'm working with: afghani bullrider, hogsbreath, blackberry kush, cantoloupe kush, sour diesel, and some unknown indica sativa hybrids that are growing faster than weeds, lol, these genetics were brought here from cali now there gonna be some of the first of there kind in my eastern area except for the unknowns. maybe i'll post some pics soon, thanks again

If you are dealing with clones then yes they will flower. Seedlings will not.

You have to treat clones differently then premature vegging plants.

Its ok to take a seedling from 24 hours of light and put it outside because it is sexually premature and it will not go into flowering because it does not have proper hormone levels to trigger the flowering phase.

But if you take a clone from under 24 hours of light and put it outside now its going to go into flower. A clone is Sexually mature, it has the proper hormone levels for flowering. And if you take it from 24 hours of lighting and putting it under 14 or 15 hours of light you are telling it to flower.

I keep my clones and clone mothers for my outdoor starts on 16/8 lighting. That way when they are put outside around may 21st ( 15hr of light ) there is not a big discrepancy in the photo-period.

well i'm actually dealing with plants started from seed that i started march 19 so they are getting pretty mature now, the are big and bushy already, i'm clipping clones from them now so i can put some out at the beginning of june, my plan was to make a bunch of mothers from them but they are tking forever to get there preflowers, so do you think i should put my fresh cuttings under shorter light to prepare them for outside. help me out guys, i really don't care if they stay fairly small from the confusion they get, cuz i'll have large numbers of them

When they get their preflowers they are sexually mature.

Before the preflowers show they are immature and not ready to flower. So they are safe to go from 24 hour light to outside.

But once you have preflowers showing the plants are telling you they are starting to get mature and they should be on less light. 18/6 if you plan on keeping them inside or 16/8 if you want them to go outside later.

Doing this now will not confuse them at all.

thanks xare, i'd say that most of them are showing there preflowers now, but problem is i have limited space and not all of them are showing yet i guess it would be fine anyways to put them on16/8 now anyway, what do you think? another thing i've been wondering is would it be a big deal if i change them to 16/8 but make the dark cycle in the afternoon to help keep them cool, would that be a big change for them once i put them outside and suddenly its light out when it was dark before

alright guys what does everone think about making a 16/8 schedule with the dark period in the afternoon, for plants that will be put outside in the beginning of june keep would that be a big change for them they were born march 19th and they are currently on 24/0 awaiting 16/8 thanks

yes, i think all of a sudden putting the dark cycle like 12 hours difference would make it go hermie

thats not true. if you have plants under 24 hours light then bring them outside and theres only say 14 hours of daylight they MIGHT start to flower because of the drastic change (10 hours or so less) it thinks that the days are getting shorter (fall time) so it starts to prepare for flowering. however they should eventually revert back to veg once it realizes the days are getting longer.

they won't be going outside from 24/0 i'm gonna change them to 16/8 2mrw or the next once i figure out when i want my day and night cycle to be, thats why i'm asking what people think about making the night cycle in the afternoon does anyone think that would affect them once i finally do put them outside turning day to night or night to day. they will have at least 3 more weeks to get used to 16/8 from 24/0
