A possible way out of the power crisis emerged on Saturday with an offer from the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX), which said it could sell power to industries and ease the pressure on the state-run utility. IEX, which started operating in June, calls itself a national-level platform for trading electricity in India. Its CEO and managing director, Jayant Deo, said, “In Pune industrial units can buy power from us by forming a cluster. This would ease the burden on the common power grid and make more electricity available to other consumers. These companies can switch to direct purchase through IEX, instead of using diesel generator sets.”
