Pot Feeding Question .... Top Feed Or Bottom Feed & Why ?

Hi ya

A friend of mine and i was talking , He said he never feeds from the top allways feeds into his drip tray , When i asked him why he told me it was due to leaching ?.... can somone explain this to me ?

What do you prefer / recomend and why ?

You should top water/feed for plenty of runoff and empty the drip tray the why's,, to prevent root rot, to speed up the wet/dry cycle, to induce and control vigor. Bottom feeding is not wrong and is widely practiced in container gardening but it is a slower process so goes against what we are trying to do which is increase yields.

It makes perfect sence to me to do it this way to ... My friend is an old stick in the mud ( His way is best ) type But i have noticed after watching hundreds of hours of videos and reading hundreds of hours of forums and websites ...very few people actauly feed from the bottom , Im about to begin my first grow ... so i may experiment with both methods just to see the result's .
