Possibly stunted plant:(

Okay, here's the deal:

I germed a seed in pt and plopped it into soil. When it first sprouted however, it wasn't immediately under light. It's grown very stringy, "reaching for light". It's about two and a half inches high with very baby-like foliage. I have it under a cfl right now. Is there any chance it can be saved? From what I recall from research, it may just hold it back a couple days in order to get re-adjusted? It may be a worse situation though, as it's only a couple days old. Any opinions?

From what I have read just repot it and put soil all the way up to the first set of leaves and it should be ok. I'm only on my first though and didn't have that problem so couldn't tell ya from experience, just what I've read on here and in books.

I had the exact thing happen to me. I germed a bunch of baby white rhino in a seperate jar pulled all the ones out that germed and forgot about it. I looked in there a week later and found another one. Planted it, I grow in hydro, but within a week it looked just like the others! Happy growing!

I would research this but I heard this somehere on here (or I am stoned and I made it up thats why to research lol) But if you have a "stringy" plant you can transplant it again. Just bury everything up to almost the leaves then hit it with the light. What size cfl are you using? I use a 125 for a mother plant. I had heard that cfl's wont burn your plant well they burned mine! Try keeping it about 6 inches above your top leaves

I'm using a 29w 2200 lumen "swirly" cfl. I have two, but only one fixture for the time being. I'm going to purchase some more equipment for flowering. I have my cfl about an inch and a half away from the plants. I've heard to keep fluros 1-2 inches away from top foli.

Just as something I do know...you can burn with CFL's I heard the same inch or two and burned mine as well not to bad but it'll piss you off. If they do start to burn it SHOULD be slow so you SHOULD know before they are too far gone if you keep up on them.

Hey, another question. My plant is started in a peat pot. Do I have to take it out of the peat pot before I transplant it into a larger container? or will it just decompose like it would in the earth?

No matter what you do it seems that sometimes happens. So I start my spouts in 12 once clear plastic cups. I don't use much soil. As the plants stretch a little I add spoonfuls of dirt around the stem. After a couple weeks you have plants with deep roots that look great.

Peat pots break down after they are watered a few times. I speed the process by sliting the sides a little with a razor knife as I drop the peat pot into a larger pot.

I just transplanted it into it's new pot (not it's final one), and it seems pretty happy:D
I cut the side of the peat pot with scissors and unwrapped it from the soil. i then put that into the pot and surrounded it with soil. While I was doing this, the roots almost got exposed because the soil was moist and crumbly, but i got it in just in time! Pics of my cheapy grow:
