Possible growing space?

Hello fellow growers :P Nah just kidding, I'm new to growing. But I have decided to begin doing so.
I need to do it indoors because I live at my parents house hah, but I have this basement for myself, and I have no use for this kitchen cupboard.

So I did some research and found out that I want to grow Northern Light Marijuana, because of it's well known indoor growing capabilities, low odor, and popularity.

I found out that by using a 7.5 liter pot, the plant would not get bigger than about 30cm (Is this correct?)
I also know that the light source should be about 30cm from the top of the plant constantly (Correct?)
The pot I have would use 18cm in height.
If my research is correct, I should then need some more space for the actual light source itself, but with some topping of the plant, I should be able to keep the plant to an acceptable height. (Correct?)

The cupboard can easily get set up with a new lightsource (I know the one already installed is not good enough).

The only thing I worry about though, is ventilation. Is it necessary? How does it work (powered, non-powered)?

And one other thing, this cupboard is besides my refridgerator, which in my opinion should make no difference, but I am interested in what you guys have to say.

Correct to the majority of it imo I would use a powered fan not only to circle air but also to strengthen your stem as to sitting next to the fridge I have no idea but I wouldn't have it that close if your going to be using hps

Depends on your budget I wouldn't know what to recommend it depends if you can control heat inside with intakes and exhausts maybe someone a bit more experienced could help I have a 600 hps and have been battling heat issues for a while now but next time round things will be different

If you was to keep the fridge there you could use either LED or CFL those don't kick out as much heat but you can keep them closer to your plants to keep the light intensity from the bulb

If money is tight in that small of a space I'd think you'd do fine with cfls do to heat and you don't have a huge area so I think they'd work out good for your first grow .........of course you mentioned your living with your parents So if your 18 then that's cool I guess But if your younger than that the information above is only guna get you grounded or a good old fashioned ass whoopin from your pops Either way good luck happy growing

Unless he pays the electric bill I think they're going to wonder why the spike in the amount how ever often it gets paid unless he is super clever and has already built some sort of solar panel device....

That's an angle I didn't even think about in this case but your absolutely right. Dad's electric bill is guna spike and the basement is guna start stinking all around the same time Not to mention the op will constantly wana be down there ....oh looking at this being older now I realize how unsneaky I actually was as a kid. Lmfao Doomed from the beginning if pops ain't cool with it Or if he's cool with you having a pet skunk he never sees that lives in the basement. Lol.

Electric bill is not a problem. I don't pay it, but I am running computer servers here in the basement for my company, so that will be a good excuse.

I think I will go for CFL.

I am going to use a fan to circulate the air as stated by THCBrain, but will I still get an average harvest without temperature/humidity control?

Are you saying that I will get an average harvest without temperature/humidity control? Just that I mighr encounter problems? If so, what kinds of problems?

I am going to sell most of the harvest, so investing in a temperature/humidity control would not be a waste of money.

You will incur all sorts of problems if you have no idea what the temps are and the humidity also I would definitely recommend reading reading and reading more and more you but always ask questions if you get stuck

Yea, I see. Since I am only doing one plant, I am planning to manually spray water while having a hydrometer. (Do I need water resistant coating for this?)
As for lighting, I will use a timer.
And temperature, I guess I will use a small heater with a thermostat since the temperature will drop when the lights go out. (Is this the right way to do it?)

Not really depends what the room temp is that the cupboard is in I can't remember spraying mine just watered when needed and if I did spray them it was when they was really young I think you can have it as low as 24c when lights are off and upto 28c when they're on I have struggle with heat issues since going onto bloom I know what I need I just don't have the money to go get it I'm at 32c high I know but my plants are green so they must be ok I get 24c at night when lights are off

So in other words, I can get a good enviorment for my plant just by watering the pot, timing the light, and finding a good room temperature for my basement.

Thanks for all your help by the way

Yeah its not too difficult you can really over think things in the beginning I know I did but sometimes the simplest thing are the best things

Don't under estimate how much it's going to smell, even just one plant. You need to think carefully about this.
