portable a/c question about soleus 13,000btu

i just got this a/c https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xls6SV1UYo0 from my hydro guy. as you can see in the video, it only has one exhaust and no intake like other portable a/ces ive been used to that have the double ducting. i told my hydro guy that smell would be an issue, he said its fine and not to worry that they work pretty much the same, so im wondering if this is true or he just blowing smoke up my ass?

all ac units have an intake and an exhaust. not sure why he said it would be fine but it draws from the sides or the bottom but it has to have an intake for it to draw air to exhaust cold air out to your room..so take it how you want to.
