PLZ Help...stealth grow

hi, i am currently running a2x2m tent but my room connects with my neighbours house, as such i am paranoid about noise so have to turn my in and out fans off during early hours. this is causing high humidity during this stage...does any1 have any advice fo me? can provide more info about room if needed

Fans exhaust outside? Can you exhaust to the attic maybe.

thanks for the quick reply, yeah i already exhaust into the loft/attic, the problem is my grow room wall is adjacent to my neighbours bedroom wall so im paranoid about the noise, was hoping for either silent fan info or some sort of noise reduction so i can run all night.

or any de-humidity advice..have bought a small 1 but it barely reduces it .

Are you just being paranoid or the fans really that loud? I can't hear mine from the next room I doubt your neighbor can.

What's the RH?

You can build a soundproof box around your fan and use inline mufflers

Or add some sound deadening material to the shared wall

You’d have to have some extremely loud fans and some extremely thin walls. I have 2 6” 440cfm each, very loud fans in my garage and once the door closes I can’t hear a thing

Id'e be more concerned about the absolute lovely stink rather than fan sound.. Assuming you've got a good crop going on
even with a filter, little things like entering and leaving can really do alot late flower.. lol

Exhausting to an attic very well may cause a nasty mold problem...NOT advisable to run exhausts into attic areas.
What about a sound dampening box for your fan...box with some insulation (like old school speaker boxes)...seal it up with hose in and out on either side and hang it with bungees to absorb any vibration noise.
Can you explain what noise is the problem...air movement or motor noise ?
Do you have speed controller on the fan...maybe slowing it down will help quiet things and keep a little air flow going.

I agree with Protonith. A little fan noise is one thing, but the dank stank from a high-grade strain is a dead give away!
For noise, acoustic tiles or even styrofoam sheets from Home Depot attached to your wall will dampen the noise significantly.

Have you got a fan controller? Acoustic ducting ?

My grow room gets too humid when my plants are in mid to late flower. For lowering humidity, this remedy helped me the most by far, but I also live in a dry climate.
I cut a square hole in the grow room wall to the adjacent room & then covered it with a vent grill to make it look nice & professional. I then put a standard box fan in the grow room right up against the hole, so it pulls in air from the adjacent room with far lower humidity.

When my plants are in veg & I need higher humidity, I just simply fill the hole with the same square piece of drywall cutout & it pops right back in like a jigsaw puzzle. Not sure if that’s an option for you?

For sure but let’s not add issues that was not asked about let’s get the sound issue boxed off first !

Some noises you will struggle to stop and can be heard through a single layer brick wall fairly easy.

Here, i'll link you this, its the 6" version but check the data sheet so you can size accordingly with what you need airflow wise, as far as I know the same company sells all the sizes.

Quietest fan ive ever owned by a million miles and ive had some super expensive supposedly silent fans..
Check out the DB rating on the data sheet.

If you cant find the size you want, try this shop
which is where I got both mine.

Combine that with a variac speed controller and its almost silent.
Loudest thing in my room is my circulation fan.

Do not turn off your extraction ever unless you want your neighbours to smell your grow!

My bad...I only mentioned the odor issue because he’s trying to achieve stealth, but his current solution is turning off his fans which will lead to stealth failure via odor issues.

I went to Wal-mart clearance aisle and bought a king size waffle memory foam mattress topper for $10. Took that foam and cut it to wrap around two different 8" intake fans. Covered that with an old wool army blanket and tied it with twine.

Duct work is insulated. Air noise is now the sound of air entering the filters.

Door to the room is the noisiest spot now. Debating on adding insulation to the room side of the entry door in order to silence that spot.



The waffle mattress toppers, attached to the adjacent wall in your case, would be a cheap silencer.

Fan speed controller, you still get air movement but reduces the sound dramatically
