I'm intrested in getting on of those Lumatek dual 600w ballasts. It looks like they only come in 240v. I was wondering is it possible to just get a plug in converter and plug the ballast to the converter or will have to get a 240v jack?

Thinking about using something like this:

You will need to get a 240V circuit and outlet installed. You can step down 240 items to 120 but I do not think it can go the other way.
I would double check with the company to see if it comes in 120V. Some ballasts are dual volt and only require the proper cord to be attached. I run two Lumatek 400s and they were available in 120 & 240. I didn't look at them close enough to see if they are dual volts or not, but it doesn't matter as I use 120V.
