Please help with carbon filter set-up

Greetings to one and all. Quick question: Have a 2x4x7 tent, 400 watt air cooled light, 550 cfm fan. Did not install the carbon filter yet. Can I hook one up later on when they go into flowering? For exhaust i have passive intake and I left one side of the air cooled light open so as to suck the air through the light into the fan and then outside. Is this ok untill i put the carbon filter in the tent? Thanks.......................

should be. i am gonna have my carbon filter only when i need it for smell so should be good. its all in your case senario. whats your temps sitting at right now? you may want to have fresh air coming into the tent. ur pants will love you for it. the open sided light try this.. air from outside tent/fan/ducting/light/ducting/outside tent. this will help you alot in keepin ur temps down. idk how your setup is but thats just an understanding. this way you're not using the tent air to cool the light youre using air from outside the tent. then when you put your carbon filter in hook it up to the other end of the light, but dont put it outside of the tent im pretty sure you know that. lol
although im no expert this is just what i would do based on information given to me.

Thanks, that makes sense. But will I still have to have a seperate exhaust for when the light and fan are not on? Or do you guys set up your light and fan on seperate timers. I have been told that you should only have to run the exhaust fan, that is hooked up to the lights, every 15 minutes or so to let in some fresh air. What do you think>>>>

well since im making my grow room now what im doing is i am routing ducting to and from the outside of my house. this way i will always have fresh air and have a place to put the unwanted air. so in your case what you should do if you want fresh air for the plants id put another exhaust and another intake so you get constant fresh air. youre plants will absolutly love it and will reward you for it. dont have these setup on a timer. perfect for your tent you can use small computer fans for this. you dont need ducting just a whole with fans. put intake at the bottom and exhaust at the top because heat rises.
