I am growing 6 plants in a storage closet. Dimensions are 45"L x 30"W x 8ft H
Lighting:
Planning on using a 600w setup-Metal Halide for Vegging and High Pressure Sodium for Flowering. I am looking to spend between $300-$450. Can anybody direct me to a good setup for the price range. I am having trouble finding info on which hoods, ballasts, and bulbs are good.
Ventilation:
This is a storage closet on my apartment balcony which some neighbors can see. I am hanging a shower curtain directly inside the door to hide light from showing through the seams around the door. Being that there is no means to having a ventilation tube or hose going from the inside to outside of the room, I do not know what to do. At the moment I leave the door open when the lights are off and have a 10' fan blowing directly on the plants.

You can go to electrical/lighting suppliers like contractors go to, and usually get everything you need pretty cheap, but 600W isn't that common outside of the gardening hobby.. Still though, you could probably get 2 400W setups like that cheaper than a pre-fab 600W.. One 400W on a light mover would be ideal for those dimensions though, and much more may present cooling problems..
You can also save money by getting a MH conversion or enhanced hps bulb for your hps ballast, or even just vegging under cfl's..

Don't under-estimate the difficulty preventing light leaks can pose.. I highly doubt a shower curtain like you describe will make any difference at all if it were added.. Good thick cardboard is ok..
And I hate to burst your bubble but you need to get active airflow in there if you intend to use HID.. You can't even close-up a cfl setup air tight enough such that light can't get through the door.. Building a grow cab like that requires a saw..
Think about ways to block the view of your entire grow cab from hotspots..

M/H or HPS will grow good buds even through the entire grow. You must beware of heat prob wilth 600w in a small area. Plenty of exhuast and plenty intake. If your willing to spend the bucks get a digital ballast that will take both HSP & M/H. Like I said one bulb can grow a harvest...

Thank you all for your replies. I was thinking about getting a grow tent and a 600w adjust-a-wing setup from Green Coast Hydro...www.gchydro.com/ anythoughts?

General concensus is that pre-fab grow tents are over priced, and not as great as they should be.. (Although there are alot of options).. I'd hunt around places where students buy/sell used furniture, and pick up a wardrobe or something for dirt cheap, then you can apply your money to other aspects..
