please give me your input here...Im stumped.

I have a room size of approxamatly 20'x 7'4"x 8'. I have Five large adjust-a-wings (1000 watt) but am unsure if this is too many to use in my size room. Would it be safe to use the Five or should I just use Four? (more lumens is better right?)
Also being that my room is 7'4" wide should I turn the wings 90 degrees so that the bulb is at a 90 degrees to the length of the room? My thought on the latter question is that the wings coverage is wider than longer. This seems to me that orientating them this way will cast more light on the canopy.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

1 1000 watt light will cover a 4x4 area well. Ya could use an area 4x5. Soil? Ya need to water them so plan on maintenance space.

I am using dirt. What is your thought about rotating the lights 90 degrees. Am I right in thinking that will use the light more efficiently?

IMHO - I would run all 5 in a row right down the center of the room. I would skip the super spreaders and mount the wings 6" from the ceiling and run them the appropriate width - depending upon the width of your actual grow space within your 20 x 7 area... for 6' run em wide, for 5' width run em in the middle, and use the tight setting if you run 4' x 20' grow space.

You could easily get away with running just 4. This would be more efficient and likely easier if you are going to employ a commercial light relay (most run 4, 8, 16, etc rather than 5). Cooling 5 wings will also require a fair bit of cooling. A 2 ton would be the minimum - but a 3 ton would be better and safer. If cooling is an issue at all - go with the 4 rather than 5.

I've found the new dimmable ballasts can really help when running open reflector designs - to offset occasional heat waves, etc... being able to switch to 500watt lights cuts your cooling requirements in half too (in case the AC dumps, or a fan goes out, etc)

This is helpful info. I never thought about being able to dim the ballast. That is a very good point. If things get to hot I can always turn them down.
Thanks for the help.
