Planting late in the season? Better or Worse?

So i live in Australia so it was literally our first day of summer yesterday.
I have some sativa in the ground started early going great. At the current rate they are likely to be over 7 foot by the end of season.
BUT i also have some hybrid seedling in. (which i have grown before which was good)
They are about 2 or so weeks old and are about an inch high.
The longest day of the year is in about 3 weeks.
What is likely to happen with these guys?
What size will they likely get to?
How long does it normally take for a plant to react to the shorting light hours when planted this late?
i read somewhere that planting late can be better because you can have smaller plants but packed with bud.
Thanks for any input guys.
Cheers

Well im in the same predicament have 6 seedling in now 5 diffrent strains. Funny I dont think it will matter to much as the sun light hours wont go down to much,
to fast and the weather will be getting warmer. so like 3 weeks to 4 weeks veg if you ran the same strain you should know how fast they grow and how big they,
will get. say in like a months time. Im still new at this and it is just my 2cents. good luck and what state u in. im in qld.:)

im in victoria so growing conditions not as great as your, hot and dry haha
but yeh its a pretty quick growing strain but i grew it on the window ledge through winter as an experiment.
But i am thinking they will go good in the right conditions :)

Yeh the weather here is pretty up and down raining 1 day sunny the next both on the same day I dont know wish it
could be sunny for a while think the forcast is sunny all week lets hope.
? what strain you running.

Dude you might wanna start your veg stage indoors, because I live in Cali and when ever I start sprouts in the blistering bright ass 95% sunny summer weather we get here they stunt and become all retarded from the intensity. Just start indoors for a month until the australia equivalent of late july and put them outside to flower, then you can harvest them like a regular out door grow.

or get them used to the sun by moving them out an hour one day, 2 the next, 4 the next day, start in the shade and move into the sun slowly. when i plant outside in the early spring i also cover my plants with a gatoraid bottle with the cap off and the bottom cut off, just for the night time. wouldnt do it in the summer time, to much of a risk of burning. i also had good luck popping the seeds indoors, putting them into jiffy disks and planting right into the ground before they pop out of the disk.

technically you can flip them whenever you want and not have to take them indoors. just construct a light proof tent that you remove each night.
