Plant size/pot size

So, I understand that under normal conditions, the size of the plants fruits are directly correlated to the size of the container/rootball. However, if I'm growing in a 6" PVC tube with NFT...and the roots just run right through the root cup and fill the tube, does it matter what size my net pots are? I would like to be able to use 2" neoprene collars from clone through harvest. Please confirm/correct my suspicions. Any direction would be appreciated. Thanks.

i've got a 5gal dwc and im only using 3" pots but i dont know how small the holes are on the 2" tho

In my opinion the net pot size doesnt really matter. Ive never had a stem fill my net pot. My roots bust out of the plastic all the time.

yeah i dont think it really matters unless your growing a monster plant
