Fortunately it's typically only once, sometimes twice a year but yeah, always doing something stupid like picking up that pen was the last one, before that it happened when I picked up my 2 year old granddaughter. Meanwhile I play ice hockey, ball hockey, soccer, snowboard and ski, never had a problem, crazy shit. My son gets it and he's in his 30's, my dad would get it from time to time, must be something hereditary in our lower back area.I get the lower back ones too but not nearly as often, and like you, from doing something that shouldn't set it off. Last time was from sleeping on the couch.
5 days a week just for upper body is too much, try doing it 3 times a week and do legs twiceIt's the middle of my back under each shoulder blade, not near my spine. I stretch regularly. Started feeling it mid last week. I work my upper body 5 days a week. It goes away when I workout but comes back soon after. Sometimes it makes my arms go numb. Is it something I might just need to power through until my body gets use to it?

Best suggestion: chiropractor.I'm on my 3rd week of lifting and getting pinched nerves in my back/shoulders. Ibuprofen helps but I don't want to keep talking it. Any suggestions?
Yeah for a major pinched nerve use a tennis ball apply pressure to the tender spots just press it against the spot until the pain dissipates then find another spot. You can also buy a rumble roller (I have the blue one which is softer that the black one but it's just right). You can use that as well same principle except you lay on it and stay on an area that's tender until it fades..I'm on my 3rd week of lifting and getting pinched nerves in my back/shoulders.
