Pimp my grow room!!!

Ok here is my first attempt at growing. I did alot of research but would like the community's help in making a very good grow closet. I have attached alot of pictures which I hope will show you the closet I have to work with and how I have it set up now.

I started the plants you will see on April 11. I just put them in the soil from seeds and this is what they look like today. They are a little stretched because I didn't have my 400w HPS until 5 days in.

The temps in the room have been a bit high, usually from 85-88 on average. I use a 110 CFM fan in the ceiling that vents to attic and ends in a carbon scrubber. For intake I have a 4" duct that is spliced into my house's AC duct work in attic (see pics). Right now I have to keep the closet door cracked or temps hit 90.

To remedy this so far I have a 290 CFM on order that will replace the 110 I am using. For intake I have a few options.

I could either replace the 4" duct with 8" or even 10". I could cut several small holes in the bottom right of my wall (bottom right of first pic) that go out to my room for more passive intake. I could use some type of inline fan to vent my heat light/cooltube directly out to attic. Not sure how you move lights once you have ducting attached to it though??

Anyways I would like to get the temps down more and my end goal is to be able to keep the door to the room where this closet is, open all the time. Right now I have to keep it shut because I have to keep the closet doors cracked.

I am looking for good advice and too see what other people with more experience would do with this space. I am open to any suggestions. I don't want to spend much money if possible (spent enough already!) but I can spend some and I can modify the closet quite extensivley if needed. I live by myself so I have a lot of privacy.

Lets pimp my closet guys!!!

Pics go like this:

Outside
outside right door open
outside left door open
right inside up close
left inside up close
ceiling left side
ceiling right side
temps
attic 4" duct
attic carbon scrubber

current plants 2

I guess I should mention that the blue thing on the left side is a humidifer. Its very very dry where I live so I run that in there to help keep RH up. Its far enough away from light to not be a danger.

Also, room dimenions are 2 feet deep, 6 feet wide, 6 feet tall.

You have a nice space to work with.

You can pull off the carbon filter till things get smelly,it will increase airflow

Yea I have it attached but dont have the carbon in it yet. I have to make a bigger one for my new 290 CFM fan coming in, its a 6 inch exhaust so I ahve to go 6" to 8" one.....

I know this closet is capable of so much more....

Anyone else have some suggestions?

My 290 CFM fan arrived but I don't think I can use it. The manual says don't install it where it will get hotter then 104' and where I live...my attic will be hitting 120-130...!! Not sure what to do now....temps still high 80's.

is your air intake hooked to you reflector? if you can get the glass to cover the bottom of your reflector and hook up and intake and exhaust to it that should cut the heat by quite a bit.

My air intake is my closet door cracked about 2 inches.

My light has glass over it already, I have the fan just blowing at it. I don't really want to hook up ducting/fan directly to it because I would have to figure out how to raise/lower the light with ducting attached to it...and I would have to build another carbon scrubber and cut an additional hole to the attic.

I keep my house a 78 degrees and I am just not sure why that closet stays so hot. I understand the light generates heat but my exhaust fan should be bringin enough new air and venting enough warm air out to keep it down farther.....

webwalker can you cut any 4" holes in the floor or wall ? are you in an apartment or house? I had the same problem you have . I resolved mine with a cool tube like you already got ,some flexable ducting not the hard stuff you have . I cut 2 4' holes in the floor 1 for the rooms intake and 1 for the lights intake . I also cut 1 4" hole above the door and another 6" hole in one of the side walls exiting to another room. You dont have to cut your holes in the floor you could do it in the wall thats faceing the room the closets in , but I recomend the floor in a corner if you can get fresh air from the basement.wich is normaly the cooldest place in a house .the 6" hole in the side wall is for the lights exhaust , and the 4" hole above the door is the rooms exhaust . for your closets exhaust I would use the hole you have in the ceilling but with a stronger fan , something like votex, sunleaves, can fan. I am running a sunleave 6" 440cfm fan at about 250 cfm so you might be able to use a 4" fan and blow through the carbon filter. as for the lights exhaust Im using a dayton 6" cage fan sucking through the fresh air intake on the floor through the cooltube out the wall if that makes any sense . I do it that way so I can run co2 . my temps in my closet were getting up to 100* after i did all my hole cutting and exhausting work my temps stay at a steady 75-78*. let me know if that helps. or if you need any help figuring out my ramblings.lol

I live in a house solo so yea..I could do some modifying if need be. I already cut a 4" in the ceiling for the first intake....tied directly into my AC duct work.

I think the problem is the fan is only 110 CFM. I bought a bathroom exhaust fan.......

If I replace it I would have to repair the square hole in the ceiling once its removed....in order to put in a round one like you have that is 400+ CFM.

I ordered a 290 CFM square one that will fit over the hole I already have but its going to be quite a chore to install it. i will have to make a header thing and nail it to the joists int he attic first.....I might do that after this first grow...gona see how this goes. Temps are not killer...I mean were talking mid to high 80's so I think I can pull this one off. I don't wana do construction in the middle of this grow. I think after its over though and if I decide to grow again...then I will change the fan out and also change the 4" intake duct to 8". I will also cut a few small holes in the wall that leads to the outer room for some more passive intake.
