PH meter

Does anyone know a good brand for a ph meter? My local hydroponics shop has one for $80 and one for $130, idk which one i should buy or if I should order one online

You could spend 1000's for a good ph meter.
Start with a cheap one or two for less than $20.
Buy better ones later but at least buy something and learn how to use the thing.

I found the ones for £15-20 are just as good as the ones for £100. The only difference is the reliability, the ones for 15£ will break in less than a year, where as the £100ones will last a few years.

I will second blue labs if u treat it right dnt drop it and shit it will last.forever I calibrate mine like 2 times a year and its dead on when I do I also use Hanna storage solution in the cap

If u wnt a wall mount one ya but I would suggest the combo for handheld but I agree with u and everyone ealse blue labs hands down great customer service also ...do u use there cleaning kit and Ph or another brand cal soulution the.blue labs stuff last longer than what states on the bottle I've had mine for 2 years and works fine

How can they be just as good if unreliable?

Blue lab as well but don't kid yourself if you don't have to calibrate every other week. Sure it's stable but all meters drift.

I like Blue Lab, they are easy to use and not that expensive, but get the cal/cleaning kits if you can, an off ( out of calibration ) meter can bring you untold misery.

Unless you're doing outdoor growing or have multiple grow sites I don't see why you would need a portable meter, therefore I will second the Guardian monitor.

Does anyone know an alternative to hydrating the bluelab ph pen in the Kci storage solution? Or does this actually have to be done?

I rinse mine off in a 20/80 99% iso and water, then a final rinse of h20 then store it w/o any solution. never had an issue with my pen.

bluelab combo meter bought in july 2014 (around 6 months ago) is garbage. spent around 300 on it and it is too often needing to be recalibrated or cleaned. had the Control Wizard CWP 24-7 Nutrient Monitor and it ran beast for 2 years solid with abuse, dried out a number of times etc., just regular maintenance. i bet if i call my buddy he will say its still running strong.

had hanna and milwaukee pens that were the same.

only plus to bluelab combo is battery operated. but DEF not water proof.

heres something that seems to be basic old technology that they didnt get right. sorry bluelab maybe i got a dud or this model particularly blows but i probably wont be buying bluelab again.
