Ph issues.

Anyone else have their tap water ph fluctuate drastically over the course of a year or so? I'm not talking about .3 or .5, I mean going from a low 6 to well over 8 in recent readings. I've got 4 or 5 solid grows under my belt using just regular ol tap water and recently its gotten to the point I can kill a perfectly healthy established plant from a single watering. I'm growing clones using soil, the same type of soil and from the same mother plant and the only thing that has changed is the ph in the water. I've used lemon juice to try and lower the ph to something manageable but according to my ph kit, using up to 40 drops of juice just to get it to low 6 range is silly. I'm now to the point where I buy distilled water but I don't think there's much that can be done to save my last round of clones and sadly the mother is now on her way out too. Frustrating beyond belief.

it may be 40 drops of the store bought lemon juice... who knows what else is in it . try real lemons. And also, dont try and change the ph in a day- try bringing it down only a little like .2 every 2 days or so, for drastically changing ph can harm the plant.
