pH for Botanicare nutes

I notice that every time I blend my botanicare nutes, my pH level going down to around 3.9. It's very difficult to get it back up. I seem to have to add a ton of pH up. Is this normal? Here's my feeding and the order in which I mixed in the nutes.

Pure Blend Pro Grow 20ml / gallon
Cal Mag Plus 2.5 ml / gallon
Superthrive 1 ml / gallon
Hydroguard 7 ml / gallon

total ppm around 1200

This is for 4th week and beyond veg.

Any reason my pH drops so low? Is it bad to have to add so much pH up?

thanks

What is the pH or your tap water? It may be acidic to start. The botanicare nutes may have a buffer in them that stabilizes the pH at such a low point. In order to raise the pH you have to overcome the buffer first before the pH will begin to raise significantly. Another thing to consider is that Calcium and Magnesium ions can form weak acids, which act as buffers as well.Do you have to add a lot of pH Up before the pH even begins to move? If your tap water is acidic and there is some sort of buffer in the nutes, that may be the source of your frustration. Also, I don't think adding pH Up will hurt anything if you are only adjusting the pH to a reasonable level (5-6.5, depending).

I would review titrations, Titration - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, and titration curves, Titration curve - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. These subjects are related to what you are experiencing I believe.

i use these nutes and don't seem to have any prob. the nutes themselves are going to bring down the Ph so if your water is 7 then adding the nutes will push it down a lot. so my water reads about 8.2 from the tap, then I wait till the clorine has left so when I add the nutes it sets my Ph at a perfect 5.5. so it must be your water!
