PH balancing question

Alright, so I just got my plant transplanted and I am freaking out because I hope it is ok, so to take my mind off of it I decided it was time to ph balance my water. So I checked the ph and it is almost 8.5. Thats no good. So my question is how much ph down should I use for 1 gallon of water? Is there a formula or something I should go by? How do I know?

Go to a pet store, get some pH down (used for aquariums). The bottle will have instructions, depending on its concentration, how much per gallon to add.

would adding a 1/2tsp. of lemon juice and mixing the gallon then retesting the water make sence?

definately read the directions on the bottle, and yes let your water sit out for 24 hours if using tap (not recomended) good spring water, or store bought distilled... works best..

My tap water is over 8.5 sometimes, its "hard" water also(lots of cal). Basically it really sucks so I use distilled water. The ph is always good and I know just whats going into my plants this way.
It does suck buying so much but I just have a 2-closet grow so its cool for me with a max of 12 plants

there's no way of guessing how much ph down to use. when i'm ph'ing plain water, i only add a couple of drops at a time. with plain water, it doesn't take much to change the ph. with nutes added, it's a lot easier. it's also easier (takes less time) to ph larger amounts, than smaller ones.
