Pests In DWC

I have a DWC, plants are ready to put into Bloom stage. They have been under 365 watts of T5's, 18/6. Rockwool, ph kept between 5.5 and 6.0, ppm's 1500 to 1800. The room is kept at 80 degrees.
Today when adding water I notice some pests in one of the tubs. They look sorta like a whitefly, not THAT whitefly but more like a household fly. Only about one third the size, white gray in color with thier bodies twice the size of their bodies or more.
Its hard to get a good look in the tub, the only place I have seen them is on the side of the tubs well above the water line.
The roots are somewhat brown, but I was told using the FloraNova that that was to be expected. They don't smell bad.
I do this for a reason (whether good or bad I don't know) thats too long to go into. But the roots are suspended in the air a couple of inches before getting buried in the water.
Two 12 inch air stones attached to dual outlet Whisper AP300 to five gallons of water. They continue to produce air bubbles well.
The tubs are sucked dry every three weeks, a mild Hyd Peroixde is run for an hour and then nutrient solution returned.
I should add, a couple of weeks ago the tubs ran dry, when I found the plants they were wilted and hanging over. They responded well, losing only one runt, and I don't see any problems with the plants other than what was caused from the dry period....or maybe I am not seeing something?
Hope that is enough info without rambling on, anyone tell me what these pests are and what I can do about them???
