ozone generators

Ok so ive heard that people tend to use carbon filters over these and i do have carbon filters on both my grow areas... but im curious as to getting one in addition as there can be a faint smell in the room and ive heard that they are good for killing mould and spores which can only be good for bud - right? The one ive seen is £150 and uses corona discharge - has anyone any experience with them and can give me more info/reccomend?

I use the CAP ozone junior (also have a carbon filter) and the ozone works great - perfect for removing the little residual smells.

I know that the air passed though it should be exhausted to the outside o3 or ozone can cause respiratory irritation.

i think it just depends on what one you have... ozone generators get a lot of bad press for possible health risks but apparently if used properly there should be no risk at all... you can kits that check the level of ozone in your room as well - i was just wondering what peoples experience/ thoughts on it were as im thinking of adding it as an additional safety precaution

as long as its vented to outside it wont hurt anything, having no leaks is important also

I have one with a Can Filter but Use the Ozone Gen is in my attic where I push all the air to before it goes out
I really wonder if it does any good. But i have had folks come over for dinner and get a wiff, so it makes me wonder if it does any good?

Do you mean they smell the ozone or your plants?

wow 150 is a bit much to pay ive seen them on ebay for 40gbp inc shipping and its 400mg/hr which i would say unless you have a warehouse full of plants is more than enough. and yeh too much bad hype about ozone does annoy me as they have worked better for me than carbon filter and no noise either

the cheapest thing is a 5 dollar cold cathode light cor computer case modding. if you have a computer power supply to power it, or a wall wart with at least 12v 2 amps ( I tried with 12v 1 amp and it was too weak to corona through the glass. the inverters for those lights put out what you need for corona discharge, about 10000 volts at about 300 millamp..
I didn't want to forever use a 12v inverter, so I broke down and bought a neon transformer from ebay for 25 bucks( new old stock). It takes direct 120 volts and steps it up to 10,000 volts and a similar small current. Neon transformers are the original idea to make and ozone gennie with but I think the cold cathode inverter will work, given you have an adequate power supply hooked up to it.

plus, lots more fun can be had with a neon transformer besides just ozone :).. think tesla coil or jacobs ladder ")

yeah ive just came home and my room was stinking and thats with the appropriate carbon filter in place - looks like an ozone generator, carbon filters and air fresheners are ALL a good idea to have!!!

Ive had a look at the ones on ebay... seem chap enough but like many things on ebay that are cheap - are they any good?

Anyone using the mountain breeze at the moment or if you arent - what ozone generator are you using?

Merry Christmas folks

Low level ozone is not dangerous despit all the rumors. It works well on odors. I have a couple old Alpine Air units.

Don't keep it in the same room as your plants It will hurt them. Also if its a high output one you dont want to be breathing that air. And those corona discharge ones work the best but you want that exhausted straight outdoors because those can actually eat away at metal. And if you use a carbon filter too you want the filter before the ozone generator in your exhaust/ducting because it cause your carbon to lose its effectiveness much quicker. But I use the CAP Ozone-1 in my exhaust and find it really works wonders

so is it possible to just place one in your room - say in a bedroom - to eliminate odors and not directly in an exhaust?

and if this is possible, what sort of output would be safe for a single small bedroom - ive seen one at £70 which has an output of 200mg/hr its called the OK ozone generator - i think it is adjustable

ive read that it can cause like oxidation or the equivalent of that to foliage, but i may just be an idiot also.

im planning on just keeping it in my bedroom to neutralise odours from a small grow, just curious now as to how many mg/hr is needed and is safe for me as well.
