Over watered because roots are hanging in reservoir?

my plants leaves are quite droopy i noticed today that there are many roots coming out of the mesh pots and are laying in 5 inches of water. is this what is causing my leaves to be droopy and not fan out? should i do something with the roots? any help appreciated

Yes, I think you are on the right track. Sounds to me like your plants are getting over watered. One thing you may want to do is to add air stones to the bottom of the water. Leave them on 24/7 This will add oxygen to the water and the roots should be OK.
