crates are square felt bags, a mix of soils and amendment, and four Ghost Toof from Mephisto Genetics. They are weathering in on the upper level of the patio for now and I can put them under the table for protection from heavy storms until they get around 2 feet tall.

the crates are a big help moving them around, and I stack them on empty ones down on the lower level to increase airflow.

couple years ago I bent 4 plants horizontal just above the first set of true leaves and ran them horizontally along a wooden dowel affixed to the top of the crates. Might do that to a couple of these just for S & G…IMG_0501.jpeg

Basking in the sun, I’ll move them under the patio table to,shelter from heavy rains when necessary. purposefully pampered plants.

stacking the crates provides all-around airflow, and allows me to lightly spray the patio with insect repellent to keep the creepy crawlies away and not get any repellent on the bags.

the patio is oriented east/west on the long axis so they will get sun from around sunrise to sunset every day. On 22 Jun, they’ll be in the sun from around 0630 to 1930.

Thanks, things are moving slowly, but should speed up with the next couple days of strong sun. I was a little late starting these, and normally give outdoor plants a week or so of intense indoor light before weathering them in. This year I just started directly outdoors, and can see the difference. I’m sure they’ll kick it into high gear soon.

these are auto flowering from Mephist genetics so hopefully looking at harvest in Mid to late Aug.

I’m running these on Fox Farms nutrients, along with adjunct nutrients (Fish Shit, Worm Tea, Superthrive etc). I’ll start adding in some phosphorus heavy feedings in a couple weeks (Mammoth P etc).

Damn can’t ask for better weather! They started kinda slow but they let me hit them with a bunch of LST clips and there are even more opportunities for that. They look a bit droopy cuz they are just getting pummeled with uninterrupted sun for around 10 hrs a day and that will keep increasing until Jun 22. I could not have designed a better orientation for the patio if I tried…

Looking good but Are you in full flower already? Bugs seem to be out in full force already!

yes these are auto flowering. I have solar lights all over my patio so photoperiods won't work here, and my goal is to harvest around early/mid august (that will make them around 90 - 100 days old). I shoot for early harvest outdoors with autos to avoid the pestilence and plague that seems to set in around early Sep - too much dew over night, and bugs go nuts around then.

I'l start treating with Spinosad and other stuff pretty soon to build up their defenses, and they will get copious amounts of silica to toughen them up...I will also surround them with marigolds and citronella to ward off the critters.

Awesome, i always forget about the auto’s! Lol. Smart move on the early harvest! I gave my outside their first spinosad treatment thursday and Ill mix it in the line up! Going to try marigolds also, currently have basil alongside mine! I use DE / topdress once a month or so as part of my IPM as well as silica benefit! Enjoying following along!

Citronella works pretty well too, and keeps the skeeters at bay. I have a storm water retention pond behind my house and the development to which it belongs ran outta $ so no aerating fountain was ever installed. I complained and they filled it with skeeter eating fish but they all died cuz the water is so stagnant. Now they throw green dye in it. The skeeters are a cloud that descends on me if outdoors in the evening…I surround my patio with citronella plants and it helps. Not that I worry but it masks the smell of the pot plants too.

thanks for mentioning DE - I need to do a top dressing with that and earthworm castings soon…
