Hey, i'm new to this whole forum thing so i'd like to start off by saying any/all comments or corrections regarding my interaction with this website and those it connects are more than welcome, such as telling me that this thread already exists and where to find it. I could not find a side by side experiment comparing 2 different rooting hormones (though there must be one) so instead of wasting more time searching i decided to do the experiment myself and post what i found in case any one else had the same question and couldn't find a thread about it.
I cut 6 super silver haze clones off the same mother 7 days ago on 8/11. They were cut with a clean razor, and sat in a bowl of water at any time that they weren't being dipped into the hormone or the root cube. I used the razor to cut a 45 degree angle cut on the stem of the clone and then split that to expose more of the cambium. I used rapid rooters for the medium and a run of the mill humidity dome over a 50 site tray with a heat pad under it ( the tray and the heat pad are separated by 3 cardboard strips that run the long way and take up about 60% of the heat pad). They were lit by a single 6500k 23 watt cfl that was placed on a thin metal grate which rested on the top of the dome.
3 were dipped in olivias gel and 3 in rootone powder ( i understand that this is a weak sample size so i'm leaving bit of room for error/unknown factors in my conclusion). After 1 week of normal clone care ( misting and removing the dome for air exchange a few times a day) the 3 that were dipped in rootone all have yellowing of the lower leaves and no roots protruding from anywhere on the rapid rooter while the 3 that were dipped in olivias have no yellowing at all and 1 of them already has a decent set of fat white roots sticking out, the other 2 just look healthy but not fully rooted yet.
I don't think i need to drag this long winded post out any further but if i left anything out that you might be curious about, please ask, also please let me know where to find a better experiment regarding this question if you know of one. i'm getting creeped out by all the smileys on this page, im out, peace.
