I found this old color TV (circa 1970?) along the road, brought it home, and gutted it. After a priming and paint (not mylar, just silver...) I installed four 20W CFL tubes. This all ran me about $100. The "screen" is a styrene light cover lightly painted. This isn't really THAT stealth when on, but I might cover it with a sheet or something...Since the whole thing is only 30" high I guess my plants are going to be pretty squat.
It's gonna be cooled with an in/out box fan, though I might just put a single 10" in the extrusion for the CRT... The whole thing is pretty well airated, there's even a grill on the bottom (perfect for drainage). I had to glue down the knobs on the front, but I could still use the switch for the fan.
Question: I'm moving a few baby outdoor plants (feminized Buddha's) into it tomorrow, should I introduce them to an 18/6 cycle gradually?
(The fifth picture is some sweet tubes from the gutted TV, tubes rock.)
