Looking for info or contrast between the two. Maybe a CenCal expert will see this and confirm or clear up what I think i know.
Is OMH an inbred line of the original SantaCruz ?
And if you've had both which do you prefer?

btw. I'm not referring to santa cruz B Dream or the seedbank mendo haze made with the purps

Hello Paul n Chukka, is there any chance you have pictures of the OMH or SantaCruzHaze. As far as I was aware from what he says skunkman was given all the remaining seeds and all complete rights to the line by the haze fam an no seeds were left in their possession except perhaps those from the very last crop that had at that point a fault an were severely suffering from inbreeding depression. So not sure what exactly is going around with these name tags. Would be interesting to see some pictures though.

I don't know what you mean by rights.

SantaCruz Pure Haze comes from Haze Bros era.

OldMendo was used by gooeybreeder for some crosses. He's told us all the details of it. Except the prehistory ends at his mendo source who inbred it.

I think I remember norstar saying he believes OMH originally came from the SantaCruz / Haze bros genes.
Last time I was inquiring with gooey i think i asked for info he didn't have or just couldn't recall. I didn't push him for a response

"Original haze genetics from Santa Cruz grown and inbred every few years in Mendocino County using the best plants for their selections. The clone we have was selected from 2011 seed stock. She was picked for fast flowering and pungent aroma with an intense high."

Sam was given full rights to the brand name " the original haze". Anyone who uses it normally has to do so with his permission an probably have to give him a percentage. The last time someone used an sold seeds with the name original haze was when tom hill first put out his haze. Im sure sam had some words an the name was changed to tom hill haze.

Those guys were slangin elbows all over and if you think their wasn't beans in prior harvests then you're insane. Whether someone preserved those or not isn't for me or you to say. So "sam" got the last of what was shucked.
The only rights you have are to keep your shot to yourself. If you put your shot out there you are giving others the freedom to do whatever they want with it.
Especially if you sell it to others ... nobody leases rights to cannabis genetics.
What country are you from by the way? In the US we exercise our Freedoms.

Show me the "work" sam put in. So far i haven't seen or heard anything great about McCormick original. ........ nobody leases rights to cannabis genetics.

Dont get me wrong, I do agree with some of what you say. One or two seeds could of slipped out although they didnt want them too. Its just I see santa cruz haze getting used as a label an have done for 20 years. But the last one that went to phylos in blue dream turned out to be super silver haze. I just realized you do abit of breeding. So you obviously want to so source the best. Personally I would go closest in generation to the original seed or something directly made with them.
Also maybe you misunderstand me or maybe I did a back to front. I was actually thinking pictures of these cuttings. Would be cool to check out., if possible..please.

An if you want sams seed I agree with you about tods. I would look at the very early batches he made when first arriving in Europe, like seedsman haze or the very first skunk haze or haze skunk. I think some Canadians called white buffalo breeders use seedsman haze. Are you looking for a good pure source of haze ?

Ther is oldtimers haze relabled as santa cruz haze. Mendo haze is skunk haze from sam. And there is a clone from the 80s that is ohz x ancestral skunk. The only person who didnt use a inbred haze and just kept a plants in clone form to breed from old seed was nevil. Its why his hazes bred true for the proper haze traits an gave keepers in high numbers while the rest dont.
 
After the OP i found more info. OMH is not close to THH. Its more lemony and asian in terps.
The SantaCruz thats being passed around now isn't an heirloom but a newer worked haze that also leans asian. Used by kiona & friends.

On another tip i just dropped some freebie McCormick Lombo in cups to flower out tiny just for samples. If anything seems interesting I'll reveg or buy some.

The "pearl pheno " you saw is a recessive one,not too often found but there in there.I had a "normal " one from same pack of seeds that was one of the best stuff I 've grown.

Regarding Ohaze and how it breeds.This pic is even more inbred,it's S1.I don't really see the genetic depression here.And it has killer potency and effect.All Its hybrids I ve tried and made have been winners quite consistenly.Only thing that didnt splash well with it was tom hill haze .
In biobizz 11/13 after 2 weeks veg ,from seed.15 weeks.

I have tried a few of the clones from Nevil via their keeper/groweras well as many F1 crosses with them and ohaze is another level for my tastes at least.The "proper haze traits" you are mentioning are the proper dutch haze traits imho,like incense profile,good potency and psychedelic high.The ohaze has a certain effect that it doesnt really or easily come out in crosses,it does add frost/potency and taste.Everything comes down to personal preference in the end.I ike everything myself but if I have to choose, NL5haze genepool needs a lot more sifting to find euphoric stuff as ohaze.
