I'm actually going to try to get a good harvest with cfl's. If it's not worthwhile I'm buying a 150 hps. Here's whats in my "heavy as hell" steel grow room: 3-2 gallon square buckets, filled with foxfarms happy frog (or some shit), 3- 42wt cfl's on an adjustable wing, BC products, y adapters with more 26 wt cfls, fan, timer, tools, water. Ill be using bag seeds as lab rats. If all goes well I want to grow an auto flowering strain. Until then, at day 15; I'll start 12/12. Here we go.....

your going to need alot more cfls when they get bigger that it might be cheaper to buy the hid now. those will work for the seedling phase ,but when they get bigger you will need more . just my 2cents. good luck

Yea, I agree. I haven't journaled anything as of late, but have a perpetual going in full swing now. The difference between a couple CFLs and a HID bulb is night and day. Definitely get your hands on an HPS somehow.

Definitely. Right now I have a grow going with 18 CFL's and I seriously regret not getting an HID lamp to begin with. After buying all of the bulbs, all of the extension cords, replacing about half of the bulbs due to poor QC at Home Depot, all of the sockets etc... I have probably spent around $120 (guess-timation). For that same price I could have gotten a 400 watt HPS from HTG, which I am confident would have been much easier to set up, less of a fire hazard and better for plant growth in general.

I was going to say to get at least a 400W if your able but it looks like your on your way. You can use all the CFLs as supplemental side lighting. Also if your bulb fails you will have the CFLs as emergency light while you get a new bulb.
