So a few days ago upon inspecting my plants I found these tiny insects in my soil. I have an indoor setup...and I absolutely hate bugs and have somehow kept myself from throwing away my plants and starting from scratch...which was my initial reaction.
They look sort of like spider mites..but I have never seen one on a plant or leaf...they just cruise around the soil. It's been about four days now and I haven't noticed any negative change in my plants...but I want the bugs gone (especially if they cause damage). They are tiny little white critters and there are thousands moving around the potting soil.
What would be my best course of action?
Please help and thanks in advance!

get neem oil asap, and some sand to put on top of your soil to keep the babys from escaping the soil

They're sort of more... termite looking? They are so tiny I can hardly see. I just know they're white... and I hate them.

I think that maybe they are 'Springtails'...not quite mites or gnats but their own species. In any case, I don't want them. what do you think would be the safest way to remedy the infestation?

Get some neem oil or 2 drops of dawn dish soap in a sprayer. I've been fighting those dam spider mites. Though if u got as many as u said ur plant would have white spots all over it. Hopefully it's jst something else. Kaleoxxx- That sand idea sounds great gonna do it tomorrow on my dirt clones.

i don't think neem oil will kill these little bastards

You can crush them on site

try cutting off their water supply; only water once the soil is dry, and burn em on site with a bic lighter lol

But I think I would transplant to a new soil. Removing the top inch of old soil in the process.

Pretty sure this is it. Thanks so much for the speedy feed back. My god this website is amazing =). I'll try the Neem Oil and sand I suppose.

I literally just transplanted two days ago and they appeared almost instantly...And fire near my plants makes me anxious.
