Oh, a beginner's woes...

Ok guys... here's the deal. I am growing 4 plants right now and have been for about 5 days and they are SEVERELY stunted in growth. I've seen little to no growth from 3 of them and barely any from the slightly taller one. Here is some information for you:

They are in Jiffy Mix Seed Starting soil in Jiffy peat pots.

They are under a Hydrofarm 2 ft. grow kit (2 24" floro bulbs) and 1 42w bright white CFL.

I feel like I may be underwatering? I have been using little water in fear of drowning them so tonight I did what I thought was overwatered them to balance the equation. I know a lot of beginners overwater but I strongly feel I underwatered and 2 of my plants seem to be dying so I guess there's no harm in it. Also to fix the problem, I went ahead and got rid of the Hydrofarm and moved them to my small grow box. There are 3 fans in it and a 75w Hps bulb. I also moved the 42w CFL into the chamber. In the mail I have an additional 65w Floro floodlight which I am going to add to the box for more light.

I guess in a way I'm answering my own questions, but specifically I'd like to know; what are some signs little sprouts make that signal overwatering? What are some signs the pH of your water is below or above what the plants need? and why aren't my plants growing!?!? thanks

Sometime pucks can dry out quickly. When you have you seedlings/small plants with small roots you need to keep the soil moist. Once they get established you can use proper watering technique of flood and dry....

Yeah I definitely was only using a squeeze bottle for a few seconds on the soil once every other day. That's not enough I'm assuming. I had a feeling when I was doing it that it was wrong yet I didn't change it. Good thinking. Thanks
