Odor control 4 new room

I'm planning on turning a spare room in my new house into a grow room about 6x7 ft. The only thing I'm struggling to figure out is ventilation/odor control. I need to know how well these carbon filters work. Can I cover the odor of 15-20 plants well enough to vent the air back into the house, so I don't have to vent all that warm air out of the house all winter long? Also, will a 200 cfm fan be enough to cool a 1000W light and the room?
Any help will be rewarded with good karma :blsmoke:

I would give Vedubstyle a look. He sells very good charcoal filters at about 1/3 the price of others. He has a site on Ebay and is very good at making top quality filters. I have one of his small units in a 9X12 room and it works great. As a matter of fact My neighbors home was broken into about 2 weeks ago, The Police came to my house to ask if I noticed anything and I let them inside to chat. They never new they were standing over 2 male plant and 6 budding females. of course they are seperated. Vedubstyle is Very discreet too I might add. Just go to Ebay and checkout home & garden then hydroponics & seed starting. Or go to Ebay seller search and type Vedubstyle. Trust me its worth the money.

hey man not tryin to steal your thread but dont you need an inline fan to push air through a filter? someone told me that small fans arent powerful enough..

Want to know same question.. i built one today followed of a link in 101 newb, and during construction realized an in-line fan will most likely be necessary. I went ahead and constructed anyways, My goal is to be discrete/stealth. Will I have any problems with noise w/ an in-line? and do I do the cheapo home-depot 80cfm for 30 bucks, or the big motor 170 cfm for $135 (im using 4" ducting). Pic of my constructed (is it useless without fan) charcoal filter. this will be placed in my ceiling in closet

You need to figure out the cubic feet of your room, and get a fan that flows 1.5 times that amount per minute as you'll blowing through a carbon filter, more if the ducting runs are long, to account for more resistance. A rule of thumb is to refresh the air in the room once a minute when using HID lighting to combat the inherent heat build up.
Carbon filters are rated by the max cfm they can flow before the air is not being filtered effectively, go for one that exceeds what you will be pushing through it to be on the safe side, 15 plants will kick off quite a stink when they're flowering!
I'm a firm believer in being safe rather than sorry.
