Nutrients for Peat Moss, Perlite and Dolomite mix?

Can someone suggest some good nutes for a peat moss, perlite and dolomite lime mix...? Its at 60%-40% ratio.

I was going to go with coco originally and use Canna Coco A+B but last minute decided to change to peat moss...

Any suggestions for some decent nutes would be appreciated as I planned and researched everything for a coco grow...

Are any of these ok for my medium?

cant go wrong with advanced but I like Humboldt countys own line iv had amazing results

Why the lime?

You're going to want to run hydro PH with peat, and perlite. 5.5-6.2
Same as Coco-Coir. You'll definitely not want to be anywhere near a ph of 7

You can use pretty much anything you like as far as nutes.
GH FloraNova, Flora Series 3 part, FloraDuo.

Those are what I have used in Coco.

The lime? I didnt know that ill be running the hydro PH but I have read a shit-ton of threads that state peat moss comes quite acidic so the lime bumps the ph up with the calcium and magnesium! Did I go wrong there or something? I read peat moss comes with a ph of 4-5 so the lime initially bumps it up! Alot have said "If using just peat and perlite, make sure to add 1 tablespoon per gallon"

Can someone correct me if im wrong here??

I use Pro-Mix Ultimate Organic which is peatmoss, perlite, lime, sea-based compost and mycorise and it works great, so no I don't think your wrong.

afaik lime is pretty much a must for peat as otherwise your ph will be down in the 4's. an is prob the most popular nute line but imo its kinda a rip off. i know alot of ppl that swear by it tho. gh is pretty well liked as well. ive been using dyna grow for a while and am very happy with it. been using the same bottle for over a year. it might be worth scrolling up a couple threads. as far as what you need for soilless, its same as hydro pretty much.

Yeah you can use pretty much any nutes you like. I like Bontanicare, Cyco, and GH/GO all are very good. You will need to treat similar to a hydro grow since there are no nutes in your grow media.

Jack's Classic will work great with this.

I've used it for well over 40 years with a peat, perlite, lime mix along with tap water.

Simple, easy, good results and cheap.

i've been looking at jacks for a while but i still have a ton of dyna left. do you need to add anything else?

Only if you read some really enticing ad copy.

Dyna is fine by itself. Haven't used it as long as Jack's, but well over 25 years.

you use the two together? i've been looking at switching to jacks maybe when my bottle of dyna runs out (thats gonna be a while). is it complete for soilless by its self? i was under the impression that it lacked a couple micros as it was intended for soil. i realy like the idea of a no bs fert tho so ive been checking @ to see if i could make it work in coco. seems like it would be great in a peat based mix, maybe with some azomite or something for extra micros and some lime.

Peat moss by itself is really acidic. After your veg cycle I would top dress with lime every 2-3 weeks at the rate of about 1 tbsp. per 5 gallon container. The added calcium helps keep the peat from becoming to acidic.

on my next grow. I think I will add 30% perlite and a lil dolomite lime.will this be good with techniflora recipe for sucess kit?

ProMix BX is my preferred soil-less medium. I amend it with perlite and vermiculite as well as dolomite lime.
Jack's Classic works great....dynamic duo and the new Citrus FEed. Simple and cheap.

Thanks wavels. I plan to use the Recipe For Success cause it was agift. I am interested in the Jack's stuff but don't really know what to use. How much dolomite do you use with the pro mix bx. I pretty much know how much perlite and vermiculite to use. Also is it good to use simple compost tea once and a while with it? Thank you so much for sharing your experience and knowledge. I looked at your photos and I am impressed. I wanna do that too!

I use apx. 1 cup of dolomite lime for about 6 to 8 gallons of ProMixBX blended with perlite and vermiculite.

i have zero experience with any compost tea...never used it.

Jacks Dynamic Duo is all you need for veg and flowering.

Jack's (unless it's their hydroponic mix) uses a high percentage of urea/ammonium as their source of nitrogen making it better for organics.

The problem with putting lime in coco or peat based mediums is if you're feeding with hydroponic nutrients, the nutrient solution already contains the proper balance of potassium:calcium:magnesium.

If feeding with a calcium nitrate based mix (hydro mix), the medium doesn't really need much calcium. This should be treated as hydro (pH 5.5-5.8 )

If the nutrients are for soil, almost all the calcium will come from the lime in the soil and pH should be soil levels. Notice how the jack's doesn't get it's N from calcium nitrate, but dyna-grow get's most of it's N from calcium nitrate.

If pH is too low in a soilless potting mix, you can also use potassium hydroxide to raise pH.
