Nutrient Starter Kits

A friend who has grown for like 10 years gave me a huge list of Botanicaire nutrients that he likes, but it all comes to like $300 and I don't wanna spend that much right now. I just want good stuff, but enough to get me through my first grow.

I was looking at this kit, it doesn't seem to say if it's for soil or hydro. is it for both?

Do you guys know of any other better kits?

Chicken droppings are good to them. You shoould put them in a bucket with water and mix them for a while, after that you let the droppings in water rest for a day. Next day you water them a cup of tea for each of them. Hope you understand me cause my english it's not so good.

Unfortunately, I can't answer your question (although it states in the description: can be used with a wide variety of garden soils and potting mixes), but that same kit if you want it is cheaper here:

OR here:

You don't need a kit or a bunch of different products. Growing cannabis isn't that complicated. You can buy Grow More Sea Grow (All Purpose and Flower & Bloom) for about $20. It will be enough for 20 grows. Some calmag and an fulvic/humic like Liquid Karma.

A lot of people use JR Peters Jacks Classic. That's another $20 product.

People use cannabis-specific "lineups" with great results. If you had $300 to spend I wouldn't say you'd be wrong to buy what you're friend told you to. There's some value in doing something someone else has proven to work, and who will help out if you have problems. But, if you're considering doing something other than what he told you to do, skip the boutique "lineups" and keep it simple.

A mix of 1 part of the best soil mix you can get your hands on, 1 part big perlite, 1 part good compost + 1 Cup balanced Bat Guano or slow release fertilizer pellets (organic) per 50L of mix in a big pot (10+ gallons) shouldn't need much additional nutrients.
The bigger the pot the less nutrients it would require. Don't forget to mulch your pots.

I got a friend who is using a 90L plastic tote with 4 plants in each and it doesn't seem like he would need anything else than water for the whole cycle. Maybe a tiny bit of guano + wood ash in flowering to pump the flowers.

And you can also add compost tea (you can just put the compost in a sock and shake it well in a bucket of water for an instant compost tea) for beneficial microbes. ONLY USE DIRECTLY AFTER PREPARATION!

If you want to go to the bottled fertilizers area I use the House and Garden Coco A+B (~70USD per 5 liter of each, you use up to 2ml/L) and Atami Bloombastic (~130USD per 1.25 liter, you use around 1ml/L in the last 5 weeks of flowering only) and I'm happy with it. (you can check the results here: https://www.rollitup.org/t/yekke-seeds-golden-diesel-breeding-log.852676/)
I'm using coco in 3.6L pots with a drip system. I rarely use anything beside these products and a pH down. (you could easily use cheap vinegar)
However, for successfully using these fertilizers you need a good pH and EC meters. That's some money as well.
The fertilizers in the amounts given above should be enough for quite a few cycles if you'r running one light.

I use general organics, the GO box is made for soil. They have a different line for hydro, if growing in soil/soilless media use the go box ger u thru least 5/5gal pots to harvest, except for the calmag.

the "GO BOX" by general organics is prefect, I also have used it. Tip: when your running low you can replace the cal mag with epsom salts from your local Dollar store

Try dyna-gro. If you order direct from them you can have both grow (foliage pro) and bloom shipped to your door for less than $20 total.
