Hey all. Just trying to get stocked up on supplies before my first grow and I have a few questions. I want to try and keep it as simple as possible my first time out so I'm thinking soil, but maybe I'm wrong. I 'm a little overwhelmed with the choice of ferts and nutrients. Do I use soluable or granular? Whats the pros/cons of each? Any help and direction is appreciated. Thanks

i would say soil is easy to start out with. get a good quality soil and a good quality veg and bloom liquid fertilizer. most people use fox farms soil and nutrients and i admit they are very good but can be expensive. if your a do it yourselfer you can mix your own soil and just buy liquid ferts. i have a soil recipe that is easy to use and inexpensive to make. i would say that liquid ferts are the way to go and there are alot of good options like fox farms, roots organics, earth juice , GH as pilgram suggested

you could use this and only have to feed your plants through flowering. just plant in this mix, water and only feed when in flower. thats simple enough. no matter what you decide just remember to always start with quality and you will avoid alot of problems.

Thanks for the response and link. It seems like making your own soil mix is the way to go, cheaper and at least you know for sure whats in it. Just making sure I understand correctly, build a soil mix that has strong ferts for veg growth and then switch to a quality liquid fert for flowering? Would it be overkill to use a liquid fert for veg as well as whats in the soil? One more question is the ph up or down for the soil or for the fert and water mix? Thanks again
