Ok so I was checking alot of posts and I understand that what you feed your plant is your preference and takes experience but for a new grower I was wondering what specifically I should feed my babies when I get started. Also I was wondering what specific signs to look for in veg stage to determine when to flower or not... just need some help please. -vega
1) I'd spring for a good, dependable line of nutrients. You can get the whole shi-bang, but really you just need two kinds: one for the vegetative state, and one for flowering. A good dose of molasses every week (1-2 tablespoons full) when you decide to start flowering DOES indeed help fatten the buds, according to common consensus. I would personally go for the Foxfarm line, which includes "Grow Big" for veg, and "Big Bloom" for Flowering. They also have a product called "Tiger Bloom" for an extra boost in flowering. They have other products, which are all highly regarded. Come in both soil and hydro form (though you can use the diluted hydroponic solution for soil). You can even get the basic three in a cheap 3-pack. Some other people like products such as BC Bloom, etc. There are a lot of good products out there, but Foxfarm is just consistent and outstanding quality for soil, nutes, and finishing products (in my humble opinion and modest experience).
2. There are a few ways to tell when to flower. Some people go by the five sets of nodes rules. I personally go for the sure-fire way... When the nodes start to branch off at irregular places (one branch above another, growing at different levels), then it's ready to flower, and probably a good time to do so. The plant is genetically primed to flower when this happens, but like I said, you can technically do it before or after this point. It really depends on how tall you want your plant to be.
Hope that helps!
